The way things are going, if Russ play at his current level or somewhat above his current level for the next few years, his HOF credential may be impacted. When folks looked at his body of work, it will be the Peteball Russ, a system QB, and Cooking or riding Russ, a failure.

Schadenfreude on steroids here.

Sadly I find myself agreeing with Kyle Brandt. Wilson isn't the person he he'd like us to believe he is. I also do think this likely has been so for quite a while.

To me there is little doubt he is or can be an elite QB. Regettably that has not been so for a few seasons now, and he seems to be into his image more than his game which has seriously tailed off.

The piling on is beginning on a national level and RW will need to refocus on his game and markedly improve or find himself repetitively excoriated by the media. For me he's no longer my QB and I am glad the team offloaded him, getting value. I find myself rooting for any team that plays against him and while not wishing him harm I am finding some perverse joy in seeing him fail.

For clarity he was my favourite Seahawks player for many seasons so there is internal conflict with my thinking.
All of the good work he did; all of the childrens hospital visits. Was all of that contrived? How could someone be so jaded? It's almost psychotic. For his sake and whatever remains of his legacy, I hope he figures it out.

Makes you wonder. Did Russ do all of that wonderful work because that's the type of person he is or did he do it to build the brand? It's like making a large donation to an organization. Do you keep that info to yourself or do you tell people?

I give him the benefit of the doubt with the Children's Hospital visits. You can't fake those. And even if he had ulterior motives for making those visits, he really did make those visits.

RCW did a lot for Seattle regardless of his motivation. As time unfolds details, we may understand more but that understanding matters less. He'll always be remembered the SB winning QB and the SB losing QB. I have a strong suspicion his legacy will also include the pick that renders his ultimate, and superior, replacement.

Right agreed - the kids that met Russell Wilson aren't thinking "huh, he's only here to make himself look good", they're thinking "oh shit, Russell Wilson is here to visit us this is the coolest thing ever", and that's all that really matters isn't it

None of us know the answer to that question. But I do know a friend of a friend that had a kid in Children's in 2012, when Russell was a rookie and long before he became Russell Wilson the brand. They were in their room with their 6 year old son and in walks Russell, serving a meal.

Children's is an awful place, having to see terminally ill kids. It's an extremely depressing situation that a lot of us would rather not even think about let alone have to look those kids in the eye knowing what their fate is. There has to be a less emotionally stressful venue to build a brand besides Children's.
