Just noticed Holmgren is a regular on KJR

Since he's been on, has he personally evaluated Wilson as a QB? Does he like or dislike him? I'm curious his take Russell.

I haven't turned on local radio in eons, so excuse my ignorance here.

I have only heard a little of the Holmgren show, but if I remember correctly he likes Wilson and he likes what Pete is doing with this team.

In fairness, what was Holmy likely to say?

"Yeah.... not a big fan of Wilson. Not my cup of tea. You see, I drafted this kid called Colt McCoy. Great kid. That's a quarterback. Not this Wilson midget."

Over the course of analyzing Wilson over time, my impression is he doesn't gush over Wilson. He gives him his credit, but doesn't make him out to be our savior (as many of us do - see my avatar).

I heard him a couple of months ago on KJR evaluating Wilson and he really didn't want to compare him to anyone. The impression I got was that he never would have drafted him. Wilson really isn't a Holmgren proto-type QB IMO. But, understand, Holmgren has a very "set" vision of what he sees in a QB and Wilson isn't it.

Holmgren is being careful with his comments RE: Wilson. The same he always was with both Favre and Hasselbeck.

"You got to have that guy if you want to get to the thing at the end." - Coach Holmgren

IIRC Holmgren likes Russ, but likes Kaepernick more because of his prototypical build.

In other words, size matters to Mike

I have listened to his spot on KJR a few times and he is very guarded in his comments. He is does not really do any real analysis of any depth. For instance he likes K in SF's size, yet he was the QB coach for Young and Montana. Young is less than a 1/2 " taller than RW.

The host for his show is not helping. Mitch i find is hit or miss. He can do a great interviews and the next time spend 10 minutes of a 30 minute slot talking about cells phones vacations and kids.

Thanks for all this.

It was kind of a typical Holmgren press conference, listening to him today. I listened attentively, and while listening thought it was great, then afterwards I realized "he actually didn't say one damn thing of interest".

I think Mike wants to coach again and is going to be as bland yet entertaining as he typically can. Pointed critisisms I don't see happening since it could effect his credibility and potential future employer.

I really like listening to his stories of what he has seen and been envolved with as far as stuations and what happened with players and his learning experiences.
