I did the same thing as Earl Thomas did on that play, although the level of difficulty was higher for me as I had a drink in my hand:) The other gifs are just thrown in for good measure.

A huge part of that play was Earl getting Smith to the ground. Smith looked unsure of what to do next as I stood there screaming GET DOWN with Crabs sneaking up behind him. A fumble there would not have been good. ; )

Didn't really notice that until now, but yeah that was a heads up play by Earl.

Exactly my reaction as well. But there was no one to hear me as I ponied up for tickets to the game.

Earl is like a parent trying to feed an infant baby food.

He "helps" by jumping with Sherm, then "catches" the ball with Smith. Pretty funny!

The gif kind of cuts out early, but yeah, I remember Smith looked like he was gonna run it out and Thomas ran in and nearly tackled him for the touchback.

Totally remember that. I think Malcolm was so excited, they had just sealed the deal for the super bowl, and he didn't know what to do! Do you guys remember Kam did the exact same thing in a regular season game (I think it was Houston or SF) and intercepted in the endzone and almost ran it out too!

Earl Thomas seems to be a guy who just has football running in his veins, always in the game with everything in his soul all the way through until the whistle blows and he totally was about to tackle Smith.

Go Earl :D

I just watched this game last night and can understand the confusion. ET is absolutely vital to this team.

He also "helped" Malcolm by lifting his arms with Smith to catch the football. Earl really is The Puppet Master.

Earl is a student of the game and his focus unparalleled. I have no doubt he will start catching those easy ints he's dropped in the past, and when he does, his name will be mentioned along side Walt's (and #45, #80, etc) as greatest Hawk ever. At the rate he's going, Earl is a lock for Canton and will likely be called one of the greatest DBs to ever play the game.

I've mentioned in the past that I have a friendship with Jake Scott (we've hung out for over 20 years, he's my neighbor and we frequently fish together). For you younger guys, Jake was MVP of the 72 SB.

Last off-season, while discussing secondaries, I asked Jake who he thought was the best DB in the game. Without hesitation he said "not Sherman and not Revis, Earl Thomas is the best DB in the NFL ". Which really says something because Jake isn't exactly a Hawk fan. But he is starting to come around. ; )

Well, it's still early in his career to start the HoF talk IMO, but many people focus on his physical talents and may forget how smart the guy is. I'm not so sure how many INTs he's dropped recently, my impression is that QBs avoid throwing anywhere near him. He doesn't seem to get that many chances. Oh, and he hits a lot bigger than he looks.

I know our defense depends on him in many ways that are not obvious on TV. I don't know that he hits harder than Easley did, but I'd say he's faster and smarter than Hamblin was. So, I guess he's debatedly the second best safety in Seahawks history. If he has a good solid and long career, he could be in the RoH, at least, and maybe the HoF, epecially now that Seattle has had some post season/SB success. Sometimes we forget that he's still on his rookie contract.

Not to be nit-picky, Sutz. But it's not too early to talk HOF in the context in which I used it. I said "at the rate he's going". He was in league DMVP talks this year and as you pointed out, while still under his rookie deal. Certainly we assume he will continue to improve / impress.

He did drop several gimmie ints over the past couple years. I have no doubt he will correct this as they were so easy he likely just (made the cardinal sin and) took his eye off the ball. With Earl's range, QBs can elect to NOT go his way, but as you know, that doesn't mean he won't be in their way, lol.

No way does Earl hit like Easley, but Easley had about 20 lbs on Earl. in today's weight, that would be like 35 lbs. That and how many (in history) hit like Kenny Easley? I do believe, returns aside, Earl will be a more rounded DB than #45 and that is difficult for me to say with Kenny my all time favorite football player.

Fair enough. I actually agree a bit, but much like Easley's case, I hate to jinx him with early talk of future awards. ;)

That's the top two for sure. Thomas is just awesome but I watched Kenny light up many an unsuspecting victim. Such a drag that his career was cut short.

this topic made me review the championship game and I just noticed zach miller's out-of-pocket blocking for the Wilson-to-Baldwin bomb. Incredible blocking on the linebacker.

Man I'm glad we re-signed Miller.

Dammit. You're 100% correct. I have seen the jinx in action and understand it is all too real. It was I that jinxed us in Atlanta. With less than a minute left, Marshawn plunges over the goal line...and like I fool, I texted my bro "GAME OVER"! Never again.

Taking your lead, I'm predicting the Hawks *will not win the division next year.

*Actually, subconsciously I think I have been doing just that. I wander around with this incredible fear of both us and SF being ousted by STL (not Zona). STL has most, if not all of the pieces now, but they've not yet completed the puzzle. The fear is probably irrational but I hope every Hawk is sharing my fear. It may not happen this year, but those suckas are coming.

NFL: GET KENNY IN THE HALL!
