This is 100% on Carter.
Some of you have no idea what it's like to play a competitive sport and this 'triggered' culture has lead you astray.
Weak.

Right. Basically, I'm not completely responsible for my own actions. You said or did something that "triggered" me, therefore my actions are at least partially your fault.

Sorry, but nope. It doesn't matter what someone else says or does. How I choose to react is 100% on me.

Damn, I'm going to have to break my pledge to leave the subject alone. But I can't let this last comment go without a reply.

I did NOT say that Carter was justified in spitting on Dak. I'm saying the exact opposite. I said earlier that Carter was 95% responsible for the incident, meaning that he wasn't justified, and to use an analogy, his reaction would be like a cop shooting out the tires of a car doing 30mph in a 25mph zone. Carter went way, way overboard in his retaliation, which is why he was suspended and Dak to this point hasn't faced any discipline.

Are you willing to bet a beer on Dak getting at least a token fine?

I simply wanted to understand you fully, not trying to put words in your mouth.

Where we appear to disagree is, I believe how he reacted to whatever happened is 100% on Cater.

Personally I’m not willing to give him a 5% pass, he had the opportunity to walk away, he didn’t take advantage.

Absolutely no hard feelings on my part, I respect your opinion, you’re certainly entitled to it.

Except it was Carter that clearly instigated the whole thing. Dak was standing around in a huddle with his teammates. Carter approached the Cowboys huddle and clearly had some things to say. That is when Dak stepped forward and spit in Carter's general direction.

The narrative that this started when Dak spit on the ground in the direction of Carter is absolutely untrue. It started before that, and it was Carter that was the instigator.
Got a link to video evidence? Not saying that isn't what happened, would just like to see it.

Look at the first few seconds of the video you posted at the bottom of page 3 of this thread. It doesn't show the whole thing, but it starts when Carter is backing away from the huddle, still talking, and Dak is stepping forward in reaction to whatever it was Carter said.

No matter what happens (or doesn't happen) with Carter, there's gonna be controversy because the league has no consistency when it comes to fines and suspensions.

Dak spit AT him then gave a knowing grin. Only Carter getting in trouble here is some BS. This is why we need AI referees that can see everything so things can be a lot more fair, rather than the usual "only he who retaliates gets in trouble" garbage.

The grin was because Dak knew he was gonna get a reaction and draw a penalty, he baited Jalen NotSmarter Carter and won

That may very well be true, but Dak never would've been in a position to bait Carter if Carter hadn't walked up to the Cowboys huddle to talk some shit.

And yes, I will concede that I don't know what Carter said, or if he even said anything at all, but I kinda doubt Carter walked up to the Cowboys huddle, said nothing provocative, and then backed away. Dak was clearly responding to something when he stepped forward and spit on the ground in Carter's direction.

So am I understanding you correctly?

Words that were or may have been said justify Carter spitting on Prescott?

If so, what happened to “sticks and stones”?

Agree to disagree?
If that’s the best we can do, I suppose we’ll have to.
Obviously words are the same as actual assault (by the law). I can’t believe you don’t get that /sarcasm off.

I'll agree that Carter's reaction was 100% on him, so perhaps we're closer to agreeing than we think. My point of the 95/5 ratio was in relation to the entire incident from start to finish, not just the last 2 seconds that resulted in Carter spitting on Dak. If you haven't checked out the link I attached, please do as it's pretty close to my own opinion.

And 10/4 about there being no hard feelings. This is a disagreement between friends. Sometimes with only text and the lack of verbal and visual queues to rely on, we can make false assumptions about a person's state of mind, and mine is not one of being upset or distraught, which is why I tried to add the little bit about beer bets and so on so as to lighten up our discussion. You've always been a person of whom I respect and admire.
