Tell everyone around you not to tell you about the result then watch it after surgery. Ear buds might help screen out some of the sound if someone nearby is watching it.

Along those same lines, I have watched live on TV every single Super Bowl, from the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Green Bay Packers in 1967 to last year's Eagles-Chiefs game. Plus, you can toss in some NFL and AFL Championship games, like the Ice Bowl, prior to the first Super Bowl.

Thank you, Lon! It's actually 10AM Monday morning here when the SB coverage starts, and I hope to be first in line for surgery. I'm Category 1 in the urgent/elective spectrum, and was first told I had to have this operation back in September. The public health system is just utterly swamped, and private hospitals (we have private insurance) don't do complex procedures like this.

I've got another (femoral-popliteal) aneurysm behind my left knee, which has to be done fairly soon too. Had surgery for same in right leg in 2022, so not looking forward to that.

Lon, it's not an option, and frankly I'm relieved. They decided it was simply too much to do in one procedure.

I still have not been told the full details, but the Feb 9 operation is to repair an aneurysm in my left common femoral artery, up at the very top part of my leg/groin.. They are removing this aneurysm and replacing it with an artificial graft repair.

The aneurysm behind my right knee (Nov 2022) was bypassed, not repaired. They used a length of saphenous vein to do this - reversing the direction of the harvested vein, to overcome the valves. This procedure will also be used when I have the corresponding aneurysm behind my left knee bypassed when I have properly recovered from my upcoming operation.

I had a lot of trouble and complications after the 2022 surgery, and hope it isn't as bad again. I'll have a similar matching scar from above my left ankle, way up to the lower abdomen: getting the staples/stitches/dressings removed/changed was quite murderous!

My Superbowl day surgery will instead be a localised but very deep incision. There's a lot of difficulties operating in this area, though, so it will still be a major recovery, I've been warned.
