Even if the Saints would have won, we would have had to beat the Niners in the last game.

Not if we went 3-0 and they lost another one to the Rams (which judging by how the Rams are playing these days is a distinct possibility).

The bigger problem was always the possibility that the Niners go 3-0 and we go 1-2. Then even beating the niners week 17 would be meaningless.

it was always the worst case scenarios folks were missing in the equation.

As someone that has watched so many Seahawks teams falter down the stretch, I take no chances in angering the football gods. Those without fear or superstition are welcome to always imagine and root for the best case scenario. I'm too jaded by life's vagaries to have that confidence.

It is indeed my fault. I rooted for the 9er's and when they won I sent this text to all the Seahawk's players, "We got this now! Number 1 seed all the way! We can coast the rest of the season. Have an extra snickers before the game!". Maybe I shouldn't have recommended that extra snickers. Seemed to slow them down.
