Howell's first snap was a poorly blocked screen where JSN was immediately dropped three yards behind the LOS. That's the only one I can remember.
Really miss the John L. Williams screen. Teams could stop it.

We were successful running screens earlier this year too.

I think Grubb has potential and is a smart dude but not doing more to help the line is driving me nuts. Move the pocket, roll Geno out etc do something

It’s almost like Grubb falls in love with plays rather than calling plays to fit personal (strengths), defensive tendencies and down & distance situations.

Play design, he’s got some cool stuff. But in game flow is rough. It’s clear he needs an elite offensive line in order to thrive.

I have been kinda sitting on the fence about Grubb...even throwing shade at Huff for poor O line play. I thought after the Cards game with the way Charbs was pounding the rock, that things were turning around with Grubb, but after this last game I am finding it hard to believe in him.
Charbs had like what, 8 carries?...UNFORGIVEABLE.

You may be right. I do think with a good line Grubb would do really well. Maybe he gets another year and they attack the line this off season?

I'm saying no they couldn't, there wasn't even an option available. Oline is not a position that has very many players available for trade. If they did find someone willing to, the price would be so high they couldn't afford it. They also still have money tied up in Adams this season. This off-season will be MacDonald's first real chance to address it.
You make a great point that Coach Mac has his first offseason to address our needs. This year he landed and was just getting acquainted with what we already had on the shelf. He couldn't wait until next year for some things on the D and that has turned out very nicely. Anxious to see what he comes up with this spring.

I suspect unless there is a miraculous turnaround with our offense, Grubb will be one and done. If that's the case, get ready for the Mike Kafka era.

There's levels to this sport, and the NFL isn't for everyone. I wish Grubb and Huff the best of success with their next gigs at the college level.

It's so far from cohesive, and he is really failing at the most basic, rudimentary stuff. Marrying the run game and playaction, not tipping plays with your personnel and packages.

Like, we all here agree that we know what the play is going to be from watching on TV about 75%+ of the time, right? Not good. And now apply that to opposing NFL coaches and players with a week to prepare. Opposing LBers aren't even moving at all on the play fakes.

Though frustrating at times, it makes me appreciate the baseline mediocre, but NFL calibre, coaching of the likes of Bevell, Schotty, Solari and others that we became disenfranchised with over time.

If Schneider's eye for OC's is as good as I think it is, then we're in trouble.
I don't think he will bring in someone who Mike doesn't want. I'm guessing he hired Grubb because the OC's available by the time we got Mike were slim pickings and John took a gamble that Grubb could adapt to the NFL with an explosive offense.

In fairness I still think Grub can adapt a offense that is pretty good for the NFL it is also just growing pains.

Did he forget we had rb's? Not ready...like many on this team hope there is some accountability with the coaching staff like they've shown with the players.
Total garbage. Grubb needs to go.

I like how MM says, literally for the 8th week running "We need to get the run game going".

FFS - who's the head coach? Grubb reports to you. Fix it.

He's completely failing at the most fundamental things that even casual fans understand. Who the hell in their right mind has Howell throw 12 times in a row when down by 10 with a full quarter? What kind of OC calls non stop shotgun passes with an Oline that is not good at pass blocking? He did nothing to help Howell out at all.

I think the only chance Grubb has to be a good OC in the NFL is to spend a season or two under someone else with experience. He might be a good passing game coordinator, he definitely shouldn't be calling plays.

The trade deadline is up. There's literally zero options until the season is over. The oline is what it is.
It’s funny how the OC is always the major problem of the offense. We were back in the game till Gino goes brain dead throws a pick in the end zone. He also forced the prior pass. If he hits Tyler jsn was out front blocking. Gino should be looking at dk every time in the end zone. OC can’t make decisions for the qb. Guarantee If McDonald has the juice he’s done with Gino after this year.

The OC was a major problem in that game. 12 straight passes called for Howell, no play calls to help the oline and completely abandoned the run game that was working. The Oline sucks but Grubb is making them look worse

This is why I'm done with him, there are no roll outs or quick outs.
He called 19 straight passes FFS!
He'd be sitting next to Waldron today if it was up to me.

I’m almost there lol. He was so good in college but also had a massive talent advantage

I've said before in another thread when Grubb became the OC. He is nothing special. When he was here @ Fresno st. Under Deboer he was nothing special. They ran the same offense then that he is running now. Everything out of shotgun. This offense works in college but not in the NFL.
