Sidney Rice is the most important piece in this puzzle. Cant have just dwarves as receivers. I expected the team to make a move on a Brandon Marshall type of big receiver, but since it was not done, Sidney is still a key guy.

Ha! Whith Darren Fells gone, Harper is my newly-adopted rook. He is that 'Brandon Marshall type' and then some! "Maker my words!"

This is the scenario I'm rooting for.

Chris Harper's my adopt a rookie also for exactly that reason! :D
But...
its 'cuz Sidney is the one that doesn't match. (And Fells is still in the loop, if not officially on the roster btw.)
I definitely foresee Sidney Rice being the odd man out in 2014.

Because when he picks up the "burly lead blocker for Marshawn on 1st & 2nd/getting the yardage necessary and moving the chains by high pointing the tough catch in traffic draped by multiple defenders on 3rd" role, Chris Harper will be taking away his value to the team.

Keep Tate for his passionate no, no, no YES!!! factor. He and Harvin are not the same player, cuz Golden Tate can make his living on the outside & deep down the sidelines, so he and Harvin complement each other, more than Sidney Rice complements any one of the others.

Lastly, if Tate doesn't fight like hell for that Hail Mary, or score with seconds to go in Chicago, we might not be where we are at as a team today. And though he might not have convinced the nation that was a catch, he convinced the ref standing there...(repalcement or no), and he convinced me he's a "to the very last second on the clock AND BEYOND" keeper on this Seahawks team. Plus, he's Russell's best friend...
So, save on Harper and pay Tate Rice's money, simple as that. :snack:

Tate and Wilson have good chemistery. He is one guy that is willing to sit in that film room eating pizza and dissecting defenses along with Russell. I'd hate to mess with that right now.

Tate is an electrifying player no doubt. Honestly I hope he takes a hometown discount and stays with the hawks for years. I cant and dont want to ever picture him in a different uniform making those awesome YAC plays for another franchise.

My prediction is that Rice will be the best #2 receiver in the league next year.

Tate is not the most skilled WR - but when was this ever a particularly "skilled" team? The Hawks won games last year by punching other teams in the mouth, working harder and just being tougher and meaner. Tate fits the attitude of this team perfectly. I'll always remember that block on Sean Lee, lifting a linebacker twice his size off his feet. I think he's exactly the kind of guy we want on the roster because he epitomizes the swagger and essence of this team so much.

^^ THIS. We've been through the growing pains with him and damned if he isn't turning into a damn good player, Top Pot donuts and all. Like the other poster said, we're probably 2 or more wins shorter without his plays.
