Draft a QB, start Geno and net another No. 1 pick for the next draft. That's a solid start to a rebuild. Playing Geno is perfect for them if they need top tier picks.

Giving up picks in game for picks in the draft, he's was made for this.

Why would anyone keep Geno around at the price he is getting? You could get Flacco for less, and have a better qb play. I doubt Kubiak is interested in having a crappy year so he can get another draft pick.

For Raiders, if Geno is not tradeable, it would come down to cutting or keeping with a lower contract.

For Geno, if no team wants to take on his contract, he probably would stay at a lower price.

I think he might stay with a lowered, ie backup QB money.

I think the general census would be that the Raiders are in rebuilding mode. Either draft a QB and know your season might tank again or get a vet and attempt a somewhat successful season to maybe 8-9 win/losees to appease the fan base. They are screwed for a few seasons either way IMHO.

#1 QB, I think that was the only way Kubiak goes.

Yes, and Flacco might be better as a mentor. And if Kubiak has a '#1 draft pick' year, he'll follow Pete out the door. Then he starts over as an OC and has to earn his way back to HC consideration.

I think he would have gone to any of the train-wreck organizations that would have considered him. The Raiders just happened to be the best of the three. And Mendoza might end up being great, but you never know. Kubiak is going to have his job cut out for him just avoiding finishing last and learning how to be a HC - Mendoza is going to need some mentoring attention, so the Raiders absolutely have to bring in someone like Flacco.
