Came up huge in the 4th quarter and honestly needs to run more often. He grew up a lot today between the ears and now the Hawks are right back in the mix

That's an interesting take. How did Geno grow up today? He looked like the same guy he's been for 3 years to me.
He took what the defense gave him and didn’t have a forced pick six in our red zone this week like he did 2 weeks ago bud. Wake up man have you slept through the season? Geno played great today but at 5-5 we need more consistency out of him. He had a variety of boneheaded plays in the Giants loss. Focus on facts instead of your own narrative

Okay. Interesting response.

This was a statistically below-average performance for Geno on the season. He had a bad interception and another potential turnover early in the game. What facts should we focus on, or, perhaps, more importantly, what is my narrative?

statistics do not measure decision making as a quarterback buddy

Geno grew up between the ears? He’s had several big wins like this last season. I don’t know what you’re getting at.

Geno is what he is. He will make perplexing decisions, he will make some big time throws and he’ll come up clutch sometimes. He’s not an elite or top tier QB but some people are delusional when they say he’s a bad QB.

Geno actually really reminds of a more athletic version of Matt Hasselbeck. The boneheaded plays, big time throws, clutch and not so clutch performances. Tendency to sit in the pocket and get drilled but still deliver an accurate pass.

There wasnt any growing up by Geno.

He had the best protection he's had probably all season. Yes, he was sacked, but sacks dont tell the whole story. He was pressured less to move off his spot, was throwing less often with a hand in his face, and was just plain not getting clobbered every other down.

Its comical that in the game where he flat threw an int RIGHT to an opposing player, he gets tabbed for growing up.

That was his worst throwing decision of the season. Redzone or not. Every other one had a reasonable chance of being completed or was tipped / his arm was hit.

Just because the defense played well enough, the protection was finally good enough and he ran the ball doesnt mean there was some 'growth moment'.

That game was just a matter of us doing the things we should be doing and eliminating things like penalties that have contributed more to taking points off the board and killing drives than anything else.

Geno is the same dude he was last year when he set the NFL record for closing out games.

Context is important.

A 4th quarter game winning drive is a big deal on the road at a divisional rival. Imagine if he tried to force one in there instead of scrambling left. He made better in game decisions as opposed to the past couple of weeks period. He overcame adversity and grew up some.

Prior to the season, most of us thought he was somewhere in the #12-18 range among QBs. It looks like that's about what he is.

He's 5-5 on the season, 23-22 in his Seahawks career (1-2, 9-8, 9-8, 5-5 in four seasons, respectively). He has 11 passing TDs to 11 INTs in ten games this season. He's solid in clutch situations. His body language isn't always becoming of a vet QB. He does well with what he's given, but he's not good enough where you can afford to miss on much of what you put around him.

I doubt there's any real answer to the Geno question this season. We probably won't get the chance to see if he can win in the playoffs. His unique situation makes it very difficult to make a comfortable determination of how much time he has left, making it difficult to determine the best time to start looking for the next guy, if that guy isn't on the roster already. He might have fewer miles on him than the average 34-year-old starting QB, but if that mattered THAT much, why isn't the league replete with 30-something QBs who barely played in their 20s, but transitioned into starting jobs as their contemporaries began to break down? The rare QB who is a quality starter in their late 30s (it doesnt happen anywhere near as much as the belief seems to be btw), is nearly always someone who has been starting a long, long time. Exceptions happen though. Our last starting QB was seemingly the exception to a thousand rules.

It's hard to say if he's truly turned a corner. Feels like we've seen this before.

4th quarter game winning drives are special tho. I’m harder than anyone on Geno. He’s got a gifted arm but he needs to scramble more if the defense drops into a dime package

The 49er monkey is off Geno's back.

That's a big accomplishment for this team and Geno made the decisive plays late in the game.

This can only help; in confidence and many more positive ways.

He led the league in those a year ago. Hell, he led the league in game-winning drives as a rookie on an 8-8 Jets team where his leading receivers were Jeremy Kerley and David Nelson, and Sheldon Richardson (yes, THAT Sheldon Richardson) had more rushing TDs (2) than their starting RB (1). He's always been good in those situations.

I don't know. First three games of the season, I said, and I believed that Geno had finally got some pocket 'poise'. He was regularly stepping up and through pressure, hanging in the pocket and getting shit done.

It's not like he had a ton more time in the pocket, it just seemed that his approach was 'better'.

I'm glad we won today - but there were several instances when I was like "you have a guy open in the mid-flats - WTF are you looking for?". Granted he was generally running for his life at the time - but I get the people who say that he's got a split personality.

I don’t want to see any more game winning drives from Geno.

Never understood why that was considered a metric of a good team/QB.

This is not a critique of Geno.

He won more games in the 4th quarter coming back last year than any qb in league history, behind one of the worst o lines, with one of the worst rushing attacks and alongside one of the leagues worst defenses.

Geno grew up a long time ago.

The rest of the team is what is 'growing up'
