So, nothing? Wake PC up and get him his prunes and Metamucil and maybe he starts to do his job?

Who went somewhere else that you feel we missed out on?

A lot of you must be new. This is SOP for the Seahawks FO for the past 10 years if not longer.

Yep, followed by fans freaking out over every single signing in the league and blasting this front office. Tons of solid players available still.

And how has that been working out for us?

Just because it’s the way they do it doesn’t mean it’s the way it should be done.

Evidence? 3 playoff wins in 6 years.

I don't even know who we can get.

We have no future. At least not short term.

Because after this season we have no QB. Almost assuredly.

So who do you add to your team when you have zero idea what your team will look like after Wilson?

Can you afford to load up on guys this year to try to make a run to try to convince Wilson to stay? not in this division.

So you can only make weird short term 1-2 year moves unless there is some gaping hole you have to fix. And even then, how do you fix it when you have no idea what your play style will be moving forward?

Once we lose Wilson, we almost certainly lose DK and there is no way Adams would stick around for the disaster to follow.

So what is the FA strategy when you don't even know where the biggest holes in your team will be after Wilson?

We are going to wait until the end, patch up the holes with JAG FAs, hope to get one or two cheaper but splash FAs that got overlooked (to prevent fan rebellion), then play out the string. There cannot possibly be a plan to win anything this season, more likely I expect they are expecting to miss the playoffs.

We have to realize where we are, and we are not in a position to expect this team to be better than last year. We will be marginally if not significantly worse in several areas. Most of the teams in our division got better and we got worse.

We played AZ 50/50 last year
Lost to the Rams 2/3
49ers is an * because of the injuries

Nothing indicates there is any reason for this team to pay much for FAs because we can't expect much but the bottom of our division right now.

No kidding. Why couldn't we be more like Houston or Jacksonville and win in the month of March? :sarcasm_off:

Serious question - if you knew that Wilson's shelf life with the Seahawks was definitely limited, how would you manage the team? Keep in mind we have limited cap space (at least so far barring restructures) and very limited draft capital.

You could of course restructure contracts, but we haven't seen that as of yet.

Or you could try and get draft capital back in a trade. No, I don't just mean Wilson either. You could move Adams to try and get picks back (heck, you could explore the same for Wagner, but that might be tipping our hand for the coming season).

How would you manage the Seahawks in that situation? You would compete of course, but no that it's unlikely to be an up year. So you could largely stand pat. Try and get some players on deals and hope for the best. Of course that's not very different from how the Seahawks typically operate!

I do think having a QB who is tired of getting hit so much and not doing much on the O Line is sending a message of a sort. We'll have to see how the rest of FA settles out.

There is something to be said for going all in and then planning on a tank year down the road sometime when the party comes to a crashing stop and the team rebuilds for another go at it. Posters who really only care about Super Bowls are reasonable to campaign for these sort of moves because the occasional tank year is highly effective at building draft capital.

Personally, I prefer the goal of trying to win over the long-term and having as many division titles as the rest of our division put together. Sweeping the 49ers this year to extend our dominance in that rivalry is not an empty accomplishment. Games late in the season matter because we are in the playoff race every season. Would any of the people here who campaign for going all-in still attend late season games in 2026 when we were 4-10? I just suspect that is a concept more popular amongst internet forums where people can easily just tune out the years where the team is bad.

Yeah, those 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 years, over and over again were just amazing...….

And that 2-14 season was awesome...….

At the same time, the 3 playoff wins in 6 seasons is just plain not good enough with the talent of this team. But, that's been covered in 73 other threads....

Hey, we resigned Poona Ford. That's cool.

I'm glad we stay away from the high priced free agents.

Jeeeeezuzzz why not just identify and bring in a couple of offensive linemen who can pass block adequately as well as run block? Is this so impossible? It doesn't seem like Wilson is asking too terribly much here!

My thoughts exactly this board needs to understand Wilson really has thrown Seattle under the bus with this trade talk. At the same time i'm disgusted with Pete and John for that idiotic trade it really screwed up the future health of the franchise. Then ownership compounds everything giving Pete and John a 5 year extension that boxes them in . Just a series of really bad decisions all around.

I think that is the frustrating part, seeing PC and JS get sweet 5 year contracts that basically portends more of the same for the foreseeable future. But, as evidenced on threads here, they do well enough every season to keep their jobs. There are at least as many people here defending them making the same bonehead moves over and over than people pointing out the same dumb play calls, etc. So, they do just enough to not get fired. Fun. Is this Burger King?

I also think it's a legitimate question to wonder if somebody turning 70 still has the wherewithal to head coach at the NFL level up to and through the playoffs.

Pete's a 'nice guy'. Good for him.

And not for nothing, this would be a great time for an owner to step in and sort some things out.

Where Jody? Who knows, but I'm going to assume sitting in an office with art work on the walls that cost more than my house.

Irvin and Mayowa will be healthy this upcoming season. Nothing to worry about.
