I agree with you 100%, it a very unpopular view for some reason. I think initially when Flynn came here people felt he was Hass 2.0 even though he didn't throw a ball here. I have found most at .net have overvalued Flynn for some time. Its refreshing to see someone who doesnt. Flynn will tank in Oak and many people here will then pretend they never thought he would be any good....they will call JS/PC amazing for getting what we got and continue with their selective amnesia.

Flynn did beat out a rookie the Packers invested in the year he was drafted. He beat out a high 2nd rounder. He's not great, but give him a little credit.

One positive I haven't heard about our FO is their willingness to accommodate the partner to make a mutually beneficial deal. Some are judging our trades/deals independently, and saying we got "fleeced" or whatever. Not true at all. Our FO is becoming amongst the best at simply being fair. More teams are entrusting JS because he is not trying to "win" every deal. Our FO rocks for all involved, players, staff and other teams. We allow our staff to interview elsewhere. We promote growth for every player, coach, executive and janitor. When JS asks a guy to come in for a one year deal and make the most of it, they trust he will come through next year. Not only is this good business, it's good karma and I'm pleased to be a 12th man behind this organization. I'll let some other teams "fleece" inferior organizations for individual deals, and deny their staff opportunities because come draft day, when a trade needs to be executed within minutes... JS makes a call, he's got a good rep and the GM on the other end will be much less apprehensive to our motives.

One Proud 12th Man!!! We make 5th round picks as effective as other teams make their 2nd rounders...

Thank goodness you're here to set us straight. Does Mark pay you to post?

Yes. This is me. This is not a brilliant FO decision. Feel free to spin away, We could have easily done better. This is one good ol boy doing

another a favor. OK I have vented. Thank you. Lets go win the Superbowl with no back up at all. It would be too easy to have anyway.
Easily done better? With what team? You realize it takes 2 teams to make a trade right?

Just because you overvalue a BACKUP QB, doesn't mean other teams are willing to give up mid rounders for him. Flynn is unproven, he just is. Do we THINK he has the ability to be a good starter? Yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that he's unproven.

@DavisHsuSeattle @FieldGulls heard from Cables son we are getting a 5th in 14 and most likely a 5th in 15. Just what he's told me.

If that's honestly the package of what the Hawks are getting back ... then let's call this what it is -- a salary dump. With a team that looks poised to go to the Super Bowl this year, I don't like this. It just feels like Flynn's value to this team (having a competent back-up who can actually win you some games) this year is worth far more than that.

For those worried about giving up Matt Flynn, his trade puts the Seahawks under the cap in 2014. A lot of key contract come up in next 2 yrs

Agreed about the overvalued part. Although I expect Flynn to tank in Oakland, I can't really separate that expected poor play from the fact that the team is just empty of talent. It's a complete mess.

Ultimately, Flynn needed to just go. Getting 2 5th round selections from Oakland may as well be 4th round picks. That team is going to be bad for a long time and clearly hasn't even hit their bottom yet.

We won't know what that trade was worth. Getting a 7th for Curry seemed an awful return, but it may just be a 8+ year starter at guard for us. We just cannot know what the trade is worth.

Today, it's worth it just to get the salary off the books and to get our franchise moving forward on a QB depth chart that is looking forward. We are in a healthier position without him, even if we aren't as deep or talented.

Overall, I'm really pleased with the returns of our day 3 selections. Adding more picks to that area of the draft where we do our best work is outstanding.

If I'm correct, getting a 5th next year is the value of a 6th this year. And a 5th the year after is the value of a 7th this year. More or less. So essentially a 6th and 7th rounder and some money off the books for losing a premier backup? Not seeing it. With the economy what it is, they'd have gotten better value asking for a Happy Meal.

Of course, today being what it is and all...

Damn TO, if he would have caught that perfectly thrown bomb from Flynn we could have bumped up compensation.

That is what surprised me most...future picks should be higher. Really surprised JS couldn't get at least a future 4th for a pick that is 2 years away.

The way JS and PC draft we just got two starters and key members of the future team for a guy who was never going to see the field. We win.

So, are we going to draft a rookie or pick up a FA now? We don't have another QB on the roster.....If Wilson gets hurt, we are screwed...

Freeing up the money being tied up on Flynn was much more important than holding out for more value. I applaud the FO for getting at least something for a player that 99% of the league was sure we were going to release.

Kam will probably get locked up for a few years now because of this trade—so all the people upset about 2 late picks in 2014 and 15...add to this trade, an all-world Safety for 3-4 years or more, and it'll make you feel better.
