Anyone that is desiring huge passing numbers from RW without a MAJOR improvement in pass protection from the O-Line is not thinking logically, at all.

When you are getting serious pressure in the backfield two seconds after the ball is snapped even Manning or Luck couldn't do much with that.

GO HAWKS!!!
Yeah, but Rodgers could LOLOLOLOL

"Let's say Wilson gets the contract he desires, which is to be the highest paid player, what would our expectations be of him? Particularly his stats.."

I feel like all recent reports are saying he is not really pushing for highest paid. He's saying 'I'll take 3rd highest just above Cam but I want more g'teed money'. That's what I'm seeing in most of the recent stuff. The 'turning down 21 mil' storyline seems more about other factors than just the 21 mil.

Marshawn is clearly awesome, but it's also objectively true that his best and most dominant years have been with RW. I'm not sure you can just un-couple that and make it seem like Lynch is just carrying RW. The Seahawks don't go for as many yards as some high powered offenses, but based on % of offense accounted for RW doesn't get much more "help" than other top QB's. He accounts for a bigger % of yards than Brady and is close with Manning. Rodgers is 3% higher and tops in league. Just want to be sure we are clear RW is a huge contributor to the offense. Our offense as a whole is less volume, but not because RW specifically contributes a smaller %.

Those % stats are for last year.
Agreed...And a big part of Rodgers having a 3% advantage is because of his high quality Receivers.

I expect Wilson better start seeing Baldwin is open.

This. Although I'd expand it to say I'd like to see his field awareness improve, his pocket presence improve, and his short and intermediate accuracy to improve.

If he could see more of the field, not always bail on the pocket so early (it's not always the OL's fault), and throw guys open a bit better (for more YAC) I'm fine with what he wants to get paid. If he's incapable of getting much better, he's worth about what Cam Newton is.
Cam Newton hasn't Quarterbacked the Panthers to dominance like Russell Wilson has...In just his first three Years at that.
Oh and, the Panthers have a pretty damned good Defense too....Maybe not Seahawks Defense good, but good nonetheless.

Now I have officially heard it all. Russell Wilson has TOO MANY COMEBACK WINS. Yeah, what a horrible thing to have from your Quarterback. :34853_doh: That is outstanding

The buck stops with the QB, I get that, so I certainly won't argue the above statements with extreme veracity on .NET. But I do want to say the first two years of Cam's career the Panthers D was NOT good. Rivera was also a new coach, and both were more to blame for being 2-14 in one score games. In 2013 if DeAngelo Williams doesn't fumble inside the 10 after picking up a first down in the opener the Panthers are likely the #1 seed and who knows how the playoffs shake out. Bill Barnwell of Grantland compared what Cam did in 2014 to the astronauts landing the lunar module in Apollo 13. Not dominant of course but pretty special given the circumstances.

Shouldn't be behind that often when you have one of the best D's in history and an awesome running game. The problem sounds rather Offensive if you ask me...

Oh and how is he the best QB in hawks history? I mean, you can't be going by stats right since those don't matter. I'm sure Hass has him beat in about every category except rushing... :stirthepot:

Specific areas I would like to see improvement. He needs to improve when he has no pressure, he needs to improve his early/ first half game, and he needs to show that he will be able to win games when he eventually loses a step in his stellar rushing attack.

Wilson is at the top of the league against both blitz and non-blitz pressure, but give him time in the pocket and his passing stats are average. Some of this is the fault of the Hawks for giving him very little to work with in the way of receiving weapons, but he has those same, dare I say, pedestrian weapons when the pressure is on and the comparison is stark.

Wilson's early game stats and accuracy are average to below average. Part of the reason he has so many come from behind wins is that he doesn't produce until the game is on the line. Once again, the Hawks share some of the blame with their system of ball control, keep the game close, and grind out the clock. Still, going into his fourth year, there is no excuse for the drastic difference between his early and late game perfomances.

Every running back and running QB loses a step eventually. RB's get cut. QB's fall back on their arm. If we are going to give him guaranteed money for a long contract, he needs to show that he can win without the part of his game that he will eventually and inevitably lose. That is not to say that we should abandon, or even reduce, the amount of rushing he does while he is still the #1 dual threat QB, but he needs to progress as a top tier arm if he wants top tier money.

I should point out that I am a huge Russell Wilson fan. I think it is hard to argue that he is not the best QB to ever don the Seahawks Uni. I actually believe that he will demonstrate significant improvement this year in all three areas that I pointed out.

I believe that he is right to be demanding that he be the highest paid player in the history of the NFL. I also believe that it is premature for the Hawks to award him that contract, based on his body of proven work.

I blame the impasse on the Percy Harvin deal. I think Harvin was brought in to evaluate Wilson's skills as a top tier arm before awarding Wilson the contract that he likely deserves. We all know what a fiasco that turned into. We gave up our best receiver and brought in a malcontent. The team overcame, but the plans to let Wilson progress were thrown into the dustbin. We get a do over this year with Graham, and the Hawks should wait to see what Wilson can do with an elite receiving threat before we award him the biggest contract in NFL history.

My expectations are, that the fans are going to turn on him so fast. It has already begun, people that I know, including myself are saying things about him that they would have never said a year or two ago. In my eyes, it is sad to say, but maybe he really was FOS all along.
