Sam Howell had better completions and QB rating, than Gemo Smith his first two years. Yes? No?

Yeah, he did, and I won't pretend to be an expert at how Geno played in his first two years. He didn't play for the Seahawks, so I paid very little attention.

That said, this is Sam's third year, and Geno similarly played in only one game his third year. Here's his statline:

27/42, 265 Yards, 2 TD, 1 INT--so a little better than Sam on Sunday.

But, if the point is Sam Howell might be good in 2030, sure, I'm fine with that premise. But this was a 'worst backup in the league' level performance for a guy who was a starter less than a season ago. My post was simply to point out that just saying 'he wasn't expecting to play' isn't enough to explain it.

Hes no where near as bad as folks are making him out to be. That said, he's not better than Geno. Geno gives us the best chance to win Sunday...

Unless he's in the red zone. Grubb just has to dial-up 30+ yard touchdowns once they pass mid-field I guess. (Only slightly sarcastic)
