My expectations for Russell in 2015 are no different than they have been regardless of whether or not he signs a contract extension in 2015 and also regardless of the amount of his new contract when signed.

He doesn't need to compile FF stats to justify his new/extended contract.

All he needs to do is to continue to lead his team to wins... and everything else will take care of itself.

I expect him to be perform more or less at the same level he has done the last two years, because that is sufficient for a Superbowl appearance.

Thats good enough for me. Stats are cool because they allow arguments between fans, thats it. Wins is all that matter.

But lets not kid ourselves, if you play FF, RW has been hot with his stats already.

I'm good with RW just playing the way he's been playing up until now.

Interesting.

Welcome aboard!

haha thanks, my dad was a huge raiders fan then converted to seahawks when he moved from LA in 1980. I was born in 82 so I've had the pleasure of rooting for the Seahawks from as early as I can remember, thanks dad(RIP) I've been a lurker for awhile and I usually post on twitter but what the hey!

I don't need big stats and what not. but I'd like to see RW look more comfortable throwing quick short passes from the pocket.

I would like to see how he does with an above average OL. If that were the case I think most people would expect him to push 4000 yards passing and 500 yards rushing. I really don't think his passing yards or rushing yards would change that much. I would expect his completion percentage to go up to close to 70% and pass attempts might even go down if he had a good OL. The only way his passing yards go up is if our defense falters and we play from behind more often, and therefore increasing his attempts.
My only expectation is that he remains one of the best late game heroes in the sport.

I like to see smart football, Wilson has done a good job of that so far. If he's going to be our QB for next contract, I will be happy to see him grow and hope he just keeps getting better (crafty veteran stuff). I'm curious what his ceiling is.

Since paying him means we effectively have $20 million less cap, he's going to have to play better to make up for the players we won't be able to afford because we're paying him. Just staying at the same level won't be good enough. He must improve.

Anyone that is desiring huge passing numbers from RW without a MAJOR improvement in pass protection from the O-Line is not thinking logically, at all.

When you are getting serious pressure in the backfield two seconds after the ball is snapped even Manning or Luck couldn't do much with that.

GO HAWKS!!!
Anyone who expects us to be able to improve the O-line AND afford Wilson isn't thinking logically. You don't take away that much cap room and have the money to improve a unit at the same time because you can't afford the necessary free agents, and we haven't hit very well on OL in the draft.

Even when Russ has been at <1.5 the strategy didn't seem to be very much about getting FA O-line so to act like his salary is messing up our FA O-line plans seems like stretching a bit. The drafting is the bigger point I think.

Wins, the only stat that matters.

Than pay every player 21 million a year - oh yeah, stats only matter if you aren't Russell Wilson.

Too many slow starts, too many comebacks, too many lobs, too many drop backs where he holds the ball for 6-8 seconds...

Funny. Like a guy has to have 4000 plus yards and a ton of TD's to be a great QB. Even if the team doesn't win :th2thumbs:

Clearly you don't like the guy, and that's fine. But he has had a JOKE of an O-Line when it comes to pass blocking, yet look what he has done. Who gives a crap what type of numbers he puts up as long as he leads the team to victory when it counts??? This isn't fantasy football, this is reality. Wins, not sure why it matters HOW they win.

But hey, he's only the best QB in team history.

Wilson is a great QB. But he is currently NOT the greatest QB playing the game. If he want's that kind of money, his individual game needs to step up and he HAS to be a driving force on the teams game stepping up too.

Which isn't to say he needs to be the new king of the hill in respect to NFL QB's. But he needs to somehow improve on last year to seriously put his name in that discussion.

I expect Wilson better start seeing Baldwin is open.

This. Although I'd expand it to say I'd like to see his field awareness improve, his pocket presence improve, and his short and intermediate accuracy to improve.

If he could see more of the field, not always bail on the pocket so early (it's not always the OL's fault), and throw guys open a bit better (for more YAC) I'm fine with what he wants to get paid. If he's incapable of getting much better, he's worth about what Cam Newton is.

didn't know that was a thing .

I absolutely don't need to see any improvement in any area . I will take the past 3 years of Russel Wilson for the next 20. The dude is magical and is a professional on and off the field. I am 26 years old and I look up to Russel Wilson. He is everything you want your kid to idolize . He deserves to be the highest paid player and not only because of performance but because he was the least paid player for 3 straight seasons. Pay the man , what ever he wants.
It is all about the wins . He is a winner.
