Well, the last 3 games have been rough. Honestly, a brand new coach will have growing pains. A first time NFL OC will as well. I was really hopeful that Grubb would bring a high powered offence unlocking the full potential of our WRs and RBs. I had hope that Grubb would be able to keep the Oline serviceable at least.

On D I hoped MM would be able to get the d on the same page. To be able to out scheme other teams and become dominant. I hoped to see qbs lost at times.

Here is the thing. This team is almost exactly the same as last years team (especially thinking of what the loss of Murphy has shown), although we lost some experience at LB also. Last years oline could not block, and our d could not stop the run.

It seems that our players lack discipline, and respect, same as last year. It seems the culture that PC had build had spoiled. Only the rotten remained, and none of the good. PC teams were aggressive and brash. They took no crap. Talked the talk. But they were amazing. They played their positions to a tee. They had every right to talk because they backed it up. They earned their swag. But the last few years... they still had the swagger, aggression, and lack of discipline, but could not back it up.

It will take time to change the culture. MM is so different than Pete, and wants a different culture.

My takeaway? Before the year begain I bet most of us would have been happy to think we would be 3-3 to start. It sucks loosing 3 in a row. But I think winning our first 3 had many fans thinking we were a superbowl team. Expectations became sky high! Our expectations changed and now loosing 3 in a row, those new expectations are dashed. It's disappointing, and I think fans are going way overboard on MM.

I personally am still high on MM. I think he is was an excellent decision. It will take some time, but I believe he will change the culture. He just needs time to learn and grow. He needs multiple drafts for his guys also. This defensive philosophy is legit. I see the workings of it already. Again it's vitually the same dang d as last years exceptionally bad d. They are playing better already, even though they are missing a ton of pieces.

Same with Grubb. He has a BS oline after YEARS of crap drafting. Add injuries also and it's a bad look. I just hope it's bad enough to force JS to actually value the oline. His O has looked dynamic at times. I see the potential. I love the presnap movement. He is clearly bringing a more advanced concept to the O. This will take time but I believe it will work.

I think this year still has a lot of fun in store for us, with good things to come.

I Agree with giving MM time. Any sane fan should/would want that. My issue is changing narrative from a new coach would make this defense better to "need new guys and its PC fault". The goalposts for some haved moved. It went from its not the roster, its PC old thinking to its the roster because of PC. You need to give new players/HC a couple years to see what you have. So, wanting MM fired is silly.

I agree with most of what you said, and I agree that the team culture, whatever that is, will be different with Macdonald. That being said, Macdonald is not a big culture guy. He's not the type of coach whose main thing is attitude. He doesn't have a big personality like a Dan Campbell who gets his team to run through a brick wall for him. Or even someone like Carroll, who had a very specific idea about the culture he wanted his teams to have--for the players to be themselves and enjoy playing football.

Macdonald is more the cerebral type of coach and if he succeeds, it will be because he will out-scheme the other guy. Nothing wrong with that, that's the Kyle Shanahan model for success. But I don't see Macdonald as someone who thinks that the most important thing is to impose his personality on the team or someone who has a developed philosophy about team culture.

I agree with both posts. I believe we got the two guys (MM&RG) that can make this team great. The biggest problem i see is that there are to many hold overs from the PC era. Whether they are not buying in to MM/RG system, not motivated (lazy), just collecting a pay check, or they have attitude problems/head cases. these seem to be what's weighing down the team and prohibiting it from taking big leaps forward. I was super high on the potential of our team and probably had to high of expectations given the new coaching staff and the hold overs. It is going to take a while for MM to turn over the roster and get the guys he needs to be able to execute his vision on both sides of the ball. I have seen the positives with the adjustments and new look defense and offense, but i have also seen the negative with not having the guys we need to make plays to win games. I think we all need to take a deep breath and temper our expectations and pay attention to the changes and the way we play and the guys MM brings in to execute the NEW Seahawks vision and style of play. I have high hopes and believe we will be at the top of the league shortly, not today or tomorrow but very soon.

Flame away.

Well said. It's gonna' take time. It's natural to be impatient, very easy to do. Esp. after the 3-0 start.

This place is funny, constantly bashing Pete and John constantly bashing any player that isn’t a HOF candidate(except Russ) and now we get new coaches and the bashing continues.
The fact they started better than most here had expected led to more bashing because the wins weren’t good enough. Then they lose 3 games that were 1 possession games in the 4th and everyone has to go. Add to that any player that isn’t living up to expectations is labeled a “head case”

News flash… winning in the NFL is hard

Starting 3-0, getting figured out, and then tailspinning is not the same thing as win one/lose one on the way to 3-3 IMO.

Grubb may have a crap O-Line - but seems fixated on some kind of Air Raid Offense which we don't have the time in the pocket to support. Seems that he's failing to adjust to the fact that Geno has zero time to throw the ball, and seemingly refuses to execute a quick pass/underneath/screen passing game complimented by any sort of Rushing attempts. I just read that we have the lowest Rush percentage in the league. 16 rushes a game. That literally 4 rushing attempts per quarter.

Love the concept of MM. But he's got people visibly checking out on him, and his legendary DC rep is seemingly ineffective. Gotta be more than a talking head at some point here. When he says "It's on me." It is.

Pre-snap motion on the O? Sure. 3-4 on D is gonna fix everything too. We need to stick to the fundamentals, not pie in the sky systems that we don't have the personnel to execute. I forget who had the quote on D: "I like the Defence where I know my gap before the snap!." Truth.

Mora was only here a year. Devolved into blaming the kicker for those that remember. Now we're filtering down to blaming the players for not executing fancy schemes? I posted another article from Lockett, of all people, calling people out for sleep walking through the walkthroughs. I honestly hope that I'm wrong, but it seems like locker room morale might be worse than we think.

Dunno. This group better start actually leading and executing.

We got Falcons, Bills, Rams and another Ass Romp from the 9ers coming up. We'd better at least split this series.

I'll say that things are ok in MM/RG world if we can tilt the nose up on this thing, otherwise I'm sniffing a wasted season. And flame me all ya want, but 3 losses straight and the team checking out on the coaching staff, and no plan other than "Oh yea, we gotta run the ball more"? Not a good look.

EDIT: and, btw, I would be very very happy to be completely wrong.

First three games: We love Grubb!
Last three games: Fire Grubb!

Man, it’s either hot or cold with this fanbase….

During these 6 games, the defense has gotten progressively worse but everything is currently what’s wrong with the offense and Grubb is giving DK too many targets and Grubb isn’t running the ball….yeah, there is problems but the reason Seattle moved on from Carroll in the first place is cause they recognized there were lingering issues.

Just give this staff and players some more time and things will get better. But, it may have to get worse before it gets better. I’m still all for it!

Let’s see how it plays out at least 3 full years with JS and Mac and the staff first!
