I'm curious if we try a new QB out. I know we brought in Blake Bortles and Cam Newton. It's obvious Carroll has zero confidence in Geno Smith, probably for good reason. Do you guys think we roll with Geno or bring in an outsider like Cam Newton or Bortles?

We've got 4 on the books as of right now.
I don't really think they view QB's like Jacob Eason as a potential replacement for Geno Smith, I'm guessing he runs the scout team. Eason as a starter is truly a terrifying prospect based on what I saw when he was a Husky.

Wait a minute.

You think Carroll has zero confidence in Geno? You don’t think the issue is…that Carroll leaned 100% into his philosophy?

Hasn’t the argument all these years been that Pete doesn’t seem to trust Russ enough? That he continuously handcuffs Russ? That belief gained even more momentum in the 2018 Cowboys game, and last year when Russ’ “struggles” was purely a case of extremely conservative Pete ball. Instead of believing in his QB like so many other coaches believe in theirs (See Brandon Staley, McVay, Andy Reid, Kingsbury, McDermott for reference)

Yes, Carroll does have issues trusting his signal callers, or rather he cares about the toxic differential above all else. That is fine and dandy when you're fielding a good defense, but we haven't had those in ages.

This offense is the most extreme version of this mentality. Some possessions we ran three times in a row and punted. We also reached out to Cam Newton and Blake Bortles before. You don't do that if you have complete confidence in your backup QB.

Anyone who has watched the games this year knows on offense it has been a tail of 2 halves. In one half it looks beat unstoppable, the other we look like we could not beat a high school defense. Why simple when we snap the ball with under 5 seconds. With little movement and we're you know what comming that's PC. When we have movement. We snap early, and there's audibles that's what we the oc and qb are running it.
