That TD did you see his agility getting his double tap of his feet in the end zone like a receiver? That's WR type awareness and agility.

Love that guy. This may sound odd, but I see a little Jason Witten. Glad he's on our team.

Has anyone else noticed that teams go low on him every tackle? Is there anything he can do to prevent this? Seems like only a matter of time before he gets another leg injury at this rate.

He is over 260 pounds, you don't tackle a man that size high.

Yep... and to think the crap the media said about him ... oh he is just a blocking TE nothing more... another great example of the national media throwing bricks LOL

Very much like a Jason Witten. I think I will be back on the Gronk hype train, when he is another year removed from major injury.

Did you see anything in college to make you think he was a pass catcher?

Admittedly, the sample size was small. However, he showed he could be effective if used.

College career

After his sophomore season at Washington in 2015, he transitioned from defensive end to tight end.[1] His first reception, against Sacramento State, went for a 27-yard touchdown.[2] After garnering only four receptions as a junior, Dissly had 21 catches as a senior in 2017.[6] Most reports projected Dissly as a blocking tight end.[1][3][7]

I must admit, I was wondering how good he could be, too. But I think I remember some local press saying he was better than he looked to the national press. He's certainly out-playing his draft 4th round status.

If you go back a little farther, he was pretty good in High School.

Born and raised in Bozeman, Montana, Dissly graduated from Bozeman High School in 2014. During his senior year, the Bozeman Hawks football team won the state championship.[3] He played on both sides of the ball, recording 57 tackles and 11 receiving touchdowns while being named Montana's Gatorade High School Player of the Year.[3] He originally committed to Boise State in December,[4] but then followed head coach Chris Petersen to Seattle to play at Washington.[5]

Maybe people focused too much on his "two way player" status early and discounted his value to the offense.

He’s got such great chemistry with Russ too— it seems like they’re always on the same page.

And the guy can seemingly do it all. Looks like a real Pro Bowler to me and we’re lucky to have him.

Dissly is what Jimmy should have been. Twice the player IMO.
Reminds me of #86 Zach Miller.

Yes.

Everytime I watched UW, Dissly stood out for making the reliable clutch catch to move the chains.

Dude is nails. He is made even more effective as a pass catcher because of his blocking. He makes the entire offense more dynamic because the defense cannot key on run or pass.

Well the league has no current film of a Seahawks TE that can catch a ball in the middle of the field, Bevell forgot Zac was on the team until he seen an article that he injured his foot in the sports section.

I’m so impressed by Dissly. If for no other reason than he’s an amazing blocker AND he’s making great plays. Such soft hands. What’s even better is he went completely under the radar. He’s one of those picks this board hasn’t given John much credit for, instead choosing to focus on the picks that haven’t worked
