Seattle has a tradition …not of the loudest receivers, not the freakiest athletes, but the ones who master the craft.

Steve Largent was that prototype.
The original surgeon. Undersized, overlooked, “not fast enough,” “not big enough.”
Didn’t matter.
His superpower was the kind of route running that made defenders look like they were trying to solve calculus in real time. He didn’t just run routes,he taught the league how to run them.

And now you look at Jaxon Smith-Njigba and you see that old blueprint resurfacing in a modern frame.

Both guys share traits you can’t coach
They’re always open not because they’re the fastest, but because their routes are borderline psychic.
They know where the defender will be before the defender does.
Elite awareness.
Largent could feel soft spots in a zone like he had WiFi in his helmet.
JSN has that same map in his head a natural sense of leverage and timing.
Quiet killers.
Neither guy needs the diva routine. They aren’t drama, they aren’t noise.
They just stack catches, move chains, and break spirits.
Hands you can trust with your life in a 3rd and 7.
Largent made impossible catches look routine.
JSN has that same consistency he snatches the ball like it’s magnetized to him.
Technicians, not track stars.
Largent built a Hall of Fame career on precision.
JSN is building his on the same foundation, just with modern speed and polish.

And maybe that’s what makes this comparison so special
Largent defined what it meant to be a Seahawk receiver.
JSN feels like the evolution the next chapter in a lineage of cerebral assassins who get open because the game moves slower for them.

Different eras.
Different offenses.
Same DNA.

Seattle didn’t just find a good young receiver.
They found one cut from the same cloth as a legend

Go Hawks

The best and coolest compliment on Steve Largent was from the outstanding CB from the Raiders who said “ Covering Steve Largent was like covering smoke.”
Coolest quote ever.

They use the same quotes after games too. Giving thanks to their creator, it is refreshing in a league full of DK's and that arse who plays in Pittsburgh.
