Wilson has a no trade clause and releasing him provides no cap relief until 2022. He's going nowhere.

I get the frustration. This team has overachieved this year and the cracks are starting to show. But Seattle has still gone to the playoffs 8 of the last 10 years which is nothing to shrug off. If you'd told me we'd be an 11 win team in the offseason, I'd be happy with that. I still felt this team was another good draft away from real contention.

Screw the trade Wilson discussion.

Changes for next year need to include continued development of some of the young players already on the roster AND drafting well, or we'll be looking at a 7th consecutive year of defensive decline.

If Amadi, Blair, Barton, BBK and any 2020 picks top out at TT, Hill, and Coyle level talent, it's going to be a long year(s) for the defense.

Then there's the Oline...

Nobody on this board (that I can see) is currently genuinely advocating trading Wilson.

One point in th OP I agree with is the ridiculous pay structure we see happening in the league.
I love Russ, but no QB is worth 10-20 times more money than anyone else on the team. No QB an win games by himself. He is only as good as his supporting cast. We need more money available so as to be able to build up the lines Controling the line of scrimmage is what football is all about.
Give Russ what he really needs, and it isn't money.

I think the biggest change needed is speed in the LB corps again.

Outside of Bosa and Kittles if i could get one player from san fran it would be Warner.

Bobby has one more go in my amateur opinion. Still looks elite but definitively slower.

I used to think LBs were kind of expendable but now I'm absolutely convinced they are the foundation of any elite defense.

Can’t trade Russ, He’s got a no trade clause in his new contract.

Don't want to see Wilson go.. but..

I would bet that he would take a trade to either of the NY teams.. and we would Get a bundle for him.

Realistically, how 'bout we send DK Metcalf to Michael Thomas' How to Be Physical and Create Separation for Big-Bodied Receivers Football Camp.

They had 4 years to do all that while he was on a cheap deal, the did not, the dont want to. PCs system is built around and for the run passing is a needed evil, hence why no pass blocking higher than 20th. Also if you have been paying attention they have not had a really good draft in some time, Why well PC no longer knows the players coming up the first few years he did as he just came from college.

The real answer here is to change the system to suite the QB but allas that will not happen.

Whatever maybe raise the cap so you can spend more rather than say the QB is overpaid. Better yet, draft better those trade downs and passing up known talent like a TJ Watt or Budda Baker for some more backup role players is killing them the last few years. The year that they drafted McDowell/2017 really killed them. You see the Saints, Packers, Chiefs, etc all of them have excellent QBs while building through draft and trade :p

Not really my point was that PC is not the coach everyone thinks he is. Ne has won 3 of the last 6 SBa. Why because there HC changes the systems to suite what he has. They have morphed form throwing all the time, to throw short quick, to throw long, to run first. Why because that is what they had. OUR HC does not do this.

"The mark of a good coach is a coach who creates a system built around they player's he has. The mark of a bad coach is a coach who creates and system and then makes his players run it."

Guess which one we have.
