Michael won't play RIGHT AWAY for the Cowboys because he has no knowledge of their offense. That's a given.

It probably won't be until week 4 that they start to ease him into the offense with a set of plays and then build on it.

This is a classic example of fans overrating their own players. There have been a lot of guys dumped by Seattle that the fans were apoplectic about, ie., John Morgan having a cow when Josh Wilson and Tapp were let go. Michael had three training camps to convince Seattle and the league that he was worth something and he failed. Take your Sehawks tinted glasses off and judge this dispassionately. What the hell has he ever done? He has burst and if the hole is a mile wide he can flash through it, just like 90% of the other backs in the league. I'm glad he's Dallas' problem now.

If you're gonna give Michael away for free, then literally any team would be better than Dallas.

Part of me thinks that Pete did this as a favor to Michael. There is absolutely no better situation for him in the NFL than the Cowboys.

I hate to root for failure, but I hope like hell this trade doesn't haunt us. Would never be happier in my life to miss out on a 7th round pick if he bombs there.

I don't understand why he wasn't just cut and let a bottom team pick him up. I feel it's worth the 7th just to make sure he's not with Dallas.

OTOH, we all know how to strip the ball from him, we know he's not going to switch, we've read his book.

Fans here are freaking out over nothing. C-mike was obviously gonna get cut. Getting a 7th rounder might not mean much at first but JS and Pete have thrived on accumulating those late round picks and UDFAs. There is a whole other thread on how half the roster is undrafted guys. 7th rounder fits with front offices MO too regarding cheap bargain talent they can develop

if he was cut he probably would've signed with dallas anyways. to get any pick at all is better than nothing.

Doubt it. Another team would have claimed him off waivers.

Some of you guys....

There will be a whole other crop of RB's coming in next year, Michael had plenty of time to show he can play and obviously......didn't. I'm sorry this 3rd string RB just doesn't do nothing for me, when lynch is gone we'll snag up another one ;)

Yes. It will be interesting to see who we draft if/when the pick comes and then compare that player to C Mike. Being forced to bet on that now I would say the other dude will be better than CMike. Also, I like the addition of Fred Jackson and to see what Rawls can do. Maybe we can stash Rod Smith on the PS too and he can be on the field later. I had seen enough of CMike and Turbin. It seemed to me CMike was always stumbling and falling down before even being touched. Pete and John have made some gutsy moves at times that many questioned that have paid off. They seem to be thinking of this season more so than beyond here and I like that. CMike is a disappointment for a second rounder but not every draft pick has to work out. Our team is good enough so we can roll the dice with some of them and have a few stick. I am less happy with the WR choices, but that's another thread.

And if another team or Dallas would have claim him off waivers, we get nothing for him. 7th for trade to Dallas is better option.

I get the concern over the Dallas O-Line, but will that suddenly cure all Michael's other issues? .

Keep in mind that DeMarco Murray has long had a fumble problem, and he led the NFL in RB fumbles last season. It still worked out pretty well for the Cowboys as a trade off to Murray's awesome running ability. There are some teams who are adamant about ball security and there are some who view it as a trade off thing.

What strikes me as odd is that Fred Jackson, though I love the signing, had the highest fumble rate in the NFL last year for any RB with 200+ touches. And Marshawn himself had just 1 fewer fumble than Murray did while touching the ball 130 fewer times. That makes me wonder if Michael was traded for ball security reasons as much as we've been led to believe. I'm sure the ball security hurts his case, but I'm starting to think it's a fit thing. IMO, He's not really clicking with Cable's system. Too much of a finesse back. Lynch and Jackson are rumblers.

Im going to piggy back on this. Kind of didnt finish reading this until I quoted you, thought I keep the Demarco Murray comparison even though it doesnt pertain to most of your post.

Ive see a lot of posters everywhere complain about what Michael can do behind that O-Line.

But for now even if Michael was even as good as Murray was last year, which he wont be probably starting out as the 3rd RB competing with the 2nd RB while learning a new system.

But even if he was... In the hypothetical... As good as Murray was in limited opportunity, I dont think that makes Dallas as good as last year. Their Defense has a lot to prove after losing players and over-achieving a bit. Romo and Co have also have to prove they can get past the one year wonder consistency.

Michael might make Dallas better but I dont know if Dallas is better overall than what they had last year.

Can't a player refuse to be picked up by said team??? I'm asking, because I don't know.

Man he is gonna blow things up in Dallas just like what happened when we got rid of our last explosive play maker Percy Harvin!

Percy Harvin 2.0! Get'cher fantasy drafts ready!

Heh. Sure, he may turn into the next Emmitt Smif. He may turn into the next bust. My guess is he'll be an adequate back that puts up solid numbers behind a stellar line, and has a tendency to turn the ball over when it counts the most. In other words, a perfect fit for Tony Romo.

According to ESPN Dallas' Todd Archer, the Cowboys' trade for Christian Michael is "more about insurance and depth."
For good reason, the Cowboys don't have much faith in underwear/cologne bandit Joseph Randle or oft-injured Darren McFadden. They want depth in the backfield, and Michael has a lot of talent even if deficiencies elsewhere in his game have limited C-Mike's playing time dating back to Texas A&M. Archer writes Michael is unlikely to become "the guy" at running back. "The Cowboys have planned to go with a committee, perhaps headed by Randle and split up with McFadden and (Lance) Dunbar," Archer wrote. "Now they can add Michael to the list."

C-Ya Later. He was never going to have a role on the Seahawks. Management and the coaches know who he is as a player. Especially after 3 training camps. They tried to work with him and it did not work. Getting a 7th rounder for him was better than nothing. Especially seeing Montee Ball just being released

So when Marshawn wins a Super Bowl this season and retires, I guess it's Rawls time? We go overnight from a team thought to have some of the best RB depth in the league to a team with basically none going forward. Unless you REALLY buy into the Fred Jackson thing.

So let's see....

You're speaking of this NFL best depth. Turbin ? Mediocre at best and a running back who never developed, never justified the hype coming out of college. Never could make it onto the field because of bad mechanics, poor blocking, poor vision, after numerous chances. And when he did get into the game we all held our collective bre aths because there was a 50% chance that said running back was going to fumble.

Christine Michael was given every opportunity to stay in Seattle. Do you think JS/PC like admitting that they blew a
pick on an underachiever? I personally IMHO think there is more than a 50% probability he never pans out in Dallas.
Why ? I think he doesn't have the maturity or drive to make it. Wait until he coughs up the ball on his own 20 yard line
in the 4th quarter against the Eagles or Giants on MNF. They'll crucify him in big D.

Good luck C Michael. Hang on to that rock when you play Seattle. If you get into the game.
