Am I the only one who's actually kind of happy about all this?

-Browner wasn't going to play the rest of the regular season anyway, but despite that he would have burdened our roster in the meantime by taking up a roster spot. By going on the suspension list, he frees up a roster spot we wouldn't have had otherwise. For the regular season at least, this suspension is actually quite convenient for Seattle, because the team was looking at some tough roster choices to find a guy for Thurmond this week. The timing of this news couldn't be any better for Seattle.

-Sure, we lose him in the postseason, but Thurmond and Maxwell are comparable contributors at this point, so I'm not too worried about the dropoff. Seattle was 4-0 without Browner last season.

-Until now, I figured there was zero chance Browner would play for Seattle in 2014. This suspension absolutely destroys his market value, and whichever team that signs him will be doing it on a bargain deal. Guess who's the hardest working bargain hunter in the NFL? John Schneider. Remember how Leroy Hill kept destroying his market value because of weed? That kept him a career Seahawk, ironically enough. We might see the same situation with Browner. The only teams that are going to go after him are bargain hunters with the kind of depth to make his November arrival palatable. How many other teams can say that besides Seattle? And you know that if the money is close, he's obviously be staying.

And what scares me is, there are more likely than not others on the team. Why can't these guys see that they have a dream life in front of them, and just follow the rules.
Yes I've broken plenty of rules in my lifetime, y'all know what I'm getting at.

Alright, maybe i'm runnin on fumes at the moment, but serisouly shouldn't the NFL re-evaluate this whole "substance abuse" rules and punishments? I hate being this guy and comparing these but,

Aldon Smith can go booze all night, get behind the wheel put people's life in danger multiple times... play a game 48 hours later like nothing happened, then get a casual month and a half off at some rehab facility. Meanwhile Browner takes a stimulant/depressant - like alcohol - that is legal in the state and gets popped for a year?

Maybe I sound like an idiot, who's to say. Anyways back to supporting the best team in the NFL on the quest.

You forgot the part about guns being fired at his house

Addiction is an illness. He didn't harm anyone. He didn't harm the Hawks.

Enough with these bush-league overreactions we seem to be so good at.

Hey, man. I'm drunk. I have an illness. Don't judge me.

Well reasoned response, thank you.

Stick with me...

I think this is being quite overblown. Sure, Browner is huge, physical, and fills a GIGANTIC hole in our DBfield. However, if we are panicking because we lost him (seriously, how many games has he missed in the last two seasons) and think we are "in trouble" for the seasons I just don't see it. We are pretty deep at DB and at some point Lane and Maxwell are going to have us exhale. We are getting healthy offensively, playing well defensively without BB, and the biggest game of the season on Monday coming up we don't have time to worry. I can wonder how this will affect our locker room but these guys are professionals (well, most of them), and I hope this brings a rally from our team, not an implosion (but, that argument can come in March). It's go time. Too much at stake for the rest of the roster to focus on how two dudes blew it (pardon the pun). I think RW, Sherm, and Beast will step up...we have leaders...big time.

I understand we are all pissed (myself included) but, now what??? Put your big boy pants on, get over it, and continue to cheer your heads off. We are still going to win 14 games (and, I don't know which we'll lose--hope not Monday) and clinch a #1 seed and win the Super Bowl. As much as I love my Hawks, keep it in perspective...BB didn't get us to 10 wins.... and rest assured that he's going to be pissed when he doesn't get a ring this year. Maybe then, too, he can lick a ring around his "L" and wonder what happened why the rest of us cry, drink, and hug it out.

We are going to be fine. I believe. You should, too. Shit is going to be ok.

I think people are more pissed about the reputation these idiots seem to be giving our team. Yes, its their individual choices but it still makes the team look bad. Most felt that Browner wasn't getting resigned anyways so this suspension doesn't really hurt us.

I'm not exactly reacting to just Browner being suspended... (After thinking about if for 5 minutes) I personally am very chill and know we'll be fine without him. Next man up. #GoHawks #WinForever #I'mIn

I more or less just think it's an issue with the NFL and another (of many) examples how money and revenue is far more important to the league than the health and safety of their players.

And now am way the hell off topic so am just gonna stop posting about this.

Regardless of whether the rules need to be changed they (Thurmond, Browner) know what the rules are. It's also not hard to not break them, just reeks of immaturity and selfishness. You just shake your head at it, what are they thinking.

Question??? Can intake of second hand smoke cause a drug test failure? Been outside a couple bars after games this year where a contact buzz was a definite possibility.

Not unless it's shotgunned straight into your mouth.

No. In the military we had guys hanging out with civilians that smoked pot. The person smoking it actually filters the THC into their body, so you can get a contact high.

I know this as fact as I went to a Lynyrd Skynrd concert at the old Seattle Collesium and got lit up by all the pot smoke. Literally the next day, Chief comes into the yard and hollers out a few names. We come in and "whiz quizz". I took Chief aside and explained the situation, he told me that if I didn't actively smoke anything, I was fine. I took the test and passed it.

Damn. Thought I'd found a loophole. Thanks for the info.

He harmed his team mates, the Hawks, the fans, PED's and weed is not an illness, it is a choice.

Very disappointing, loved Browner as a hawk. He is going to pay a very heavy price for this. Pretty much career ending.

Man I am really bad at quoting the correct post, apologies.

As far as our rep goes, there's an easy solution for that - just keep winning.

Guys, chill. He screwed up, and his career is pretty much over because of it. He wasn't going to see the field again for us most likely, so this doesn't affect the playoff run one bit.

Browner did a lot for this team. He made a mistake. He has a substance abuse problem, and shouldn't be crucified for his illness. Put the high horses back in the garage and let's move forward with our great depth.

He should be crucified for this. If he was going to screw up like this he wouldn't have been on the team and a different CB would still be on the team instead of released. This puts the team in a worse spot. WTF get high in the offseason.

If his PED use is this persistent, it makes me wonder how good a player he actually is.

IMO, He'll be easier to live without than Thurmond, move on!

i'm not happy about this persay, but he was more than likely not coming back full strength this season, and probably walks in the offseason, so as far as i'm concerned, he can limp his ass back to the CFL and watch our championship season from the couch. Moron.. Thurmond you're next.....
