No neutral arbitrator. Goodell will hear Brady's appeal himself. You think this is stupid now? The stupid is just beginning.

I feel sad for the few, sane, Pats fans. The rest of their lives they are going be associated with the football equivalent of truthers.

That's the one bit I'm genuinely curious about. Presumably Goodell decided on the 4 game ban, and now he gets to hear the appeal?

"What's that, Tom? You're upset? Well, I guess I was a bit harsh. Yeah, go on then, you can play in Week 3..."

Vincent decided the penalty, not Goodell. Not that Troy Vincent isn't just Roger's stoolie anyway.

I am not Roger's fan, he is wildly inconsistent, and driven by perception over reality, but he has the Patriots over a barrel. There has been mention of the Patriots suing the league, but if they do they bring Tom's info not yet turned over into the equation. Before he was asked for his phone transcripts pertinent to the two idiots, in a civil case they would be subpoenaed.

So much of this case amuses me. Kraft relying on, then having pulled out from under him, the relationship with Goodell, is amusing. Once again, a perception of impartiality was very important to Roger.

I don't think Rog is doing himself any favors here. His public perception is already pretty bad, this could swing things in the Pats' favor among the general public. That being said, I admire him for using the CBA to his advantage here, and I think he's ready to dig his heels in. the Pats are making themselves look really stupid by continuing this ridiculous pantomime.

Goodell would have to be found with a dead hooker in his bed with a swastika carved into her back for any public perception to be swayed towards the Patriots. Even then, it'd be a tie at best.

NO ONE outside of the greater NE area is on the Pat's side.

I actually think there is a tremendous amount of irony in what just took place....

The Patriots always bend the rules. Just like their ineligible receiver who's a lineman situation. Goodell used the same exact play right from Bills playbook. Instead he had Troy dish out the punishment.... Now he can enforce it since it wasn't his decision.... Sure is it questionable? Yes... However, much like Bills attitude towards these things its completely reasonable as its within the rules. He is neutral. He stayed out of the punishment, and hired an outside source to investigate using BB logic.. Now he is eligible to make a decision since he stayed out of it in the first place. In addition, "Goodell's decision to hear the appeal himself is in accordance with the process agreed upon with the NFLPA in the 2011 collective bargaining agreement" so everything is within the rules. Just like the Patriots like it. The rules are bent just like they like it.... Or wait..... Is it a big deal now that they are on the other side of it? Then again when its within the rules you aren't really bending them.

Craziness. Kraft will spend millions on lawyers who will deconstruct and misdirect until nobody knows what the word "deflate" means anymore.

All the Patriots truly need is four words of advice from Kirk Lazarus.

If Deflator is about losing weight, what was the Effin Watermelons all about? Come on Pats, I'm waiting for your dumbass explanation.

Obviously watermelon is a part of any good weight loss (or should I say deflation?) program. :stirthepot:

News Flash, the NFLPA wants to call Goodell and Vincent as witnesses now, they say since they are going to testify they can't arbitrate.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/05/15/nflpa-wants-goodell-to-testify-in-tom-brady-appeal/

Considering the NFLPA has tried this tactic before with other player appeals and it hasn't worked, my guess is it won't work this time either.

It's WHY Goodell had Vincent hand down the punishment instead of himself, so he could unilaterally be the sole arbitrator in the appeal. No conflict.

If Brady and the Pats want to try and win this, or have the fines/suspensions reduced their only hope is to go federal outside of the league. Which they will, but then we get to see what's in Tom's iPhone AND get to hear these two bafoon ballboys testify.

I love how the Patriots "deflate truther " site rolls out a Nobel Laureate to dispute the scientific findings of the Wells report. Only it turns out this Nobel Laureate runs a company funded by Kraft. With a net worth of somewhere around $4.3 billion, I'm sure Kraft could field 53 Nobel Laureates and dress 46 on Sunday.

With McNally watching his employer basically make a public fat joke at his expense, I'd have to imagine he'd be quite talkative in ways that don't benefit the Patriots should this really go to court.

Hell yeah, I can't wait for these guys to go rogue. It's really the only saving grace of this entire nonsense.

Diane Sawyer: "Tell me Mr. McNally, did Tom Brady ever raise his voice with you."

McNally: "Not usually, but there was this one time I forgot to pack his rubber sheets, 10 quarts of motor oil, Little Bo Peep outfit and hire the marching band and circus midgets for his New Year's Eve party."

I can't even imagine the stack of non-disclosure agreements he's signed over the years.

Well he was fired and where the Pats are or were his employer the NFL is the governing entity so that should take priority over anything Patriots.

I've never been a NFL equipment manager, but pretty sure they don't sign non disclosure agreements to inflate balls and make sure there's enough tape in the trainer's room.

These guys aren't GM's, seems excessive to have them sign non-disclosure agreements.

If they didn't have them sign some, the Pats are sure wishing they HAD. With all the shenanigans they've been up to, I actually wouldn't be surprised if they went to the extreme of having NDAs drafted up. They certainly knew what they were doing was wrong and were actively hiding their activities.

I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure not disclosing the existence of said NDAs would be part and parcel of the agreement. That would go a long way to explaining if these guys never "go rogue" and start throwing them under the bus. Unless bribery is involved. There's no way I'd put that past what that org is capable of doing.
