To win against the 49ers you must pass the ball.

Their front 7 is one of the best in football if not the best.

Their secondary is not terrible, not even bad but weaker than the DL and backers combination.

You can pass on them. Green bay couldn't because it was -10 below and Carolina is more of a running team (which was the perfect opponent for them).

But the Cards passed all over them and so did Atlanta.

You pass the ball against the 49ers or you limit your chance to win.

Barring a monsoon this year, the Hawks have passed on average a total of 26 times per game.

I don't see that changing come Sunday.

And I also don't think that passing only 26 times on Sunday will limit our chances to win.

That actually isn't true. Look at Wilson's passing stats in the week 2 game. They are pretty pedestrian. Yes the Niners have an excellent front 7, but Lynch has proven over and over again that we can run against them esp in Seattle.

How about varying formations that don't tell the defense what we plan to do every single snap? We can still run a lot and not be as stupidly predictable.

Someone name the last time we passed when Marshawn was lined up in the I formation.

Maybe that's part of the mistake free part. Early last game Russ tried to move Lynch from his left side to right and they nearly fumbled it there.

New England offense is a spectacle to behold, no? (really I'm not sure).

What Polaris said. It's actually not true and its blatantly not true.

It's all about the run game on both sides.

- Contain Gore and do not give up the big play (like we did in SF this year).
- Get Lynch rolling, win enough (wont get them all) battles on the line to give us some points on the ground.
- Be strong in the red zone.
- Play Seahawks defense and be very mindful of Kap's legs.
- Take shots when it is safe and capitalize on their mistakes.
- Win the turnover battle.

If done properly, we win.

Assuming we execute well (which we haven't of late) I completely agree with you.

We will pass precisely enough times to kick the Niners ass.
In the 6-13 loss last season, Wilson threw the ball 23 times.

In the 42-13 victory last season, he threw it 21 times.

In the 29-3 victory early this season, he threw it 19 times.

And in the 17-19 loss this season, he threw it 25 times.

Average against the Whiners for the past two years, 23 passes/game.

Pretty consistent game to game.

BTW, Krappernick has thrown it on average 29 times in the same four games.

There's also a Jon Gruden interview by Brock and Danny where Gruden picks the Seahawks to win 15-13

Some other good interviews:
Matt Williamson ESPN
Jim Zorn
El Hombre is always funny
Charlie Casserly is just not that smart
Fox Sports Burkhardt is a great interview and likes Seattle too. He really enjoyed the atmosphere at the Clink.

Didn't we run on the second play from scrimmage last year against these guys and score?

Two of the 3 top corners for the 49ers are hurt. The Seahawks need to take advantage of that. They need to pass this game and open lanes for Lynch. Otherwise it will be an easy defensive gameplan for the 49ers. Just load the box.

By passing game, Wilson needs to heady and accurate, Tate needs to catch the ball, Baldwin needs to get open, Kearse needs to get deep like he did earlier this season. Then there's Miller and Willson. They need to look at TE and screens to Lynch or Turbin more.
