Ben Johnson vs Mike Macdonald

Did Seattle choose the right candidate to replace Pete Carroll?

  • Yes. It's Early. Mike just needs time. Rome wasn't built in a day.

  • No. Lions are thriving with Johnson. Shoulda, coulda, woulda!

The lions were terrible for a while before their current regime turned them into contenders. I think they won one game their first year?
People calling for change already are ridiculous.

Florida and loving GOP country!
Mike's team seems to be taking time to adjust to his schemes. On the other hand, another possible candidate at the time to succeed Pete Carroll was Detroit's Ben Johnson. The Lions have been putting up big numbers offensively against teams this season on their way to a 6-1 record. Did Schneider choose the right candidate in Macdonald to succeed Pete, or should he have chosen Ben Johnson who's offense is putting up ridiculous numbers?
We had no choice, and unlike BJ's current team, we don't have the personnel to run his scheme because our O-line is brutal.

MM does not motivate this team at all.
Unemotional on the sideline.
I dont think I have ever seen him talk to a player.
In way over his head as HC.
Just my views on what's going on.
Needs to get a fire going
I think a decade of Pete's personality has clouded your judgement on how a head coach should behave on the sideline. Almost every coach in the league is unemotional on the sideline, that's what a calm demeanor looks like. I want a coach who keeps his cool throughout the game

Who missed noticing that Detroit was well on its upward trend before this year ever began? This is year two of their assent up the ladder. They are the ones whose win over Green Bay in last game of regular season propelled us into the playoffs two years ago. We're still in the first year of this phase of our remake and that is something that doesn't happen overnight.
…and what was Dan Campbell’s record his first year as an HC in Detroit? That’s right…3-13-1

Johnson vs Macdonald? Are you kidding me. So what if Macdonald is having issues right now. Pete went through the same shit when he first got here. If Johnson was here we'd be going through the same thing. Macdonald defensive scheme works, it worked at Michigan and they eventually won a championship and it worked in Baltimore where they almost (Should Have) gone to the SB. I have faith in Macdonald. This defense, our defense will be scary again. You gotta be patient people. Let Mike weed out the people who don't fit the system.
HOO AHHH..... I trust Coach Macdonald. I and nobody else has any other choice. This team has been a wreck since Pete blew up the OL. Petes first year he spent on a steady churn of OL changes. He found good combos, then let them go to other teams, or traded them. It was never the same after that.

The SB champs were built on the O line, the SB loss was built on the losses in that same line.

The O line is the lungs of the Offense, the QB is the heart, he can't possibly live without Oxygen. The defense is the arms that crush an opponent. WR and RB's, they are the legs. You can't win until the team can breathe easy, and relax. Fatigue and anger sets in, which is where we are right now.

Not all coordinators are cut out to be head coaches, Ben may enjoy success as an OC, but no one knows if he could be successful as HC.

He literally didn't want the job. He was not an option.

He literally took his name out of the running after teams obviously told him they weren't interested. Why go through all the trouble of lining up interviews just to say "actually im not interested"

Many insiders have speculated he did this to save face. Im surprised you didnt hear about it.
