Ben Johnson vs Mike Macdonald

Did Seattle choose the right candidate to replace Pete Carroll?

  • Yes. It's Early. Mike just needs time. Rome wasn't built in a day.

  • No. Lions are thriving with Johnson. Shoulda, coulda, woulda!

Mike's team seems to be taking time to adjust to his schemes. On the other hand, another possible candidate at the time to succeed Pete Carroll was Detroit's Ben Johnson. The Lions have been putting up big numbers offensively against teams this season on their way to a 6-1 record. Did Schneider choose the right candidate in Macdonald to succeed Pete, or should he have chosen Ben Johnson who's offense is putting up ridiculous numbers?

MM does not motivate this team at all.
Unemotional on the sideline.
I dont think I have ever seen him talk to a player.
In way over his head as HC.
Just my views on what's going on.
Needs to get a fire going

Yep. He looks completely disconnected from the players.

We aren’t that talented as a team. We don’t do anything that well. A different coach would probably have us one more win. Boy genius in LA isn’t doing that well. It’s talent.

Ben Johnson is a stud but being a head coach is far different then being an OC. Who knows how he does when he gets a shot but we didn't have him as an option anyways.

If the team was 5-3 and had won that Giants game, would anyone look at it differently?

The Giants game was lost by our Special Teams, getting the tying FG blocked. Is MMac guilty of not paying enough attention to Special Teams? I'd say the ST Coordinator let the team down by having a scheme that was so vulnerable and players did not recognize and react to Giants player leap over line.

He didn't want the job. He didn't return to the Lions because he didn't have other options.

Johnson vs Macdonald? Are you kidding me. So what if Macdonald is having issues right now. Pete went through the same shit when he first got here. If Johnson was here we'd be going through the same thing. Macdonald defensive scheme works, it worked at Michigan and they eventually won a championship and it worked in Baltimore where they almost (Should Have) gone to the SB. I have faith in Macdonald. This defense, our defense will be scary again. You gotta be patient people. Let Mike weed out the people who don't fit the system.

Hard to motivate players that are used to being coddled and really don't have the talent to do what he wants done. No use in bashing them. I see a guy who's examining everybody and making a list of who he's getting rid of next season.

We didn't even have a choice. Ben Johnson wasn't an option.

This poll is pointless.
Yep. It's just another way to start the "Fire Mike" stuff after 8 effin games. Lame. But, to each his/her own.

And yes, he has to do a hell of a lot better job. As does the team, coaches and front office. Period.

Who missed noticing that Detroit was well on its upward trend before this year ever began? This is year two of their assent up the ladder. They are the ones whose win over Green Bay in last game of regular season propelled us into the playoffs two years ago. We're still in the first year of this phase of our remake and that is something that doesn't happen overnight.
