It's true that Wilson had never thrown an INT in the red zone before. But he'd also already thrown one of his worst INTs (worst as in no extenuating circumstances: didn't hit a receiver's hands, wasn't tipped, wasn't last minute of the game) in a long time earlier in the game, and it was also a short throw over the middle of the field.

My feeling is that we were running so well in that game, I'm not sure I care if they expected it. Lynch was on a mission. He was pissed about not getting to run it in the game before. The call just seemed tone deaf.

Not second guessing either. That down is one I specifically had a strong opinion about before the play and that opinion was give the ball to Lynch. I was excited about it. I thought he was going to score. So it was a pretty big let down.

Frickin' Shaun Alexander scored 20 of his 27 TD's from within 8 yards of the goal line. I think Lynch could probably manage...

Could have just a little to do with...

Future HOF- Walter Jones

and

Probable HOF- Steve Huchinson

blocking for him!!!!

This is true. That left side of the line was amazing. Pretty much anyone could have gotten behind those two and made a few yards on the goal line.

Seriously? We're going to ignore the disparity between the greatest O-line in Seahawks history to the poo poo platter we have in 2013?

I have a hard time ripping on the coaching staff, because honestly if you rip on one play, you have to rip on them all.

Like if I don't agree with Bevell's offensive plan on one scoring drive, then it's unfair to be okay with the others because they kind of go hand in hand with his scheme.

Like I know a lot of people last year were upset with PC's decision to go for it on 4th down rather than take a FG in the Atlanta game. But at the same time it was his thinking and that coaching style in the first place that got us to where we were at to begin with. Who knows if he decided to not go for it on a 4th down in a similar situation, if we would have lost a game somewhere else that would have taken us completely out of the playoffs to begin with.

Anyway that's my 2 cents.

Isnt the first time Lynch been ignored. Hes p off and rightly so. Fantastic player. Now shouldnt Carroll b stepping in by now? Shouldnt he b overiding Bevell with these issues? Carroll a nice guy maybe too nice Cmon Pete take charge here

You're assuming Pete is unhappy with it. If he is unhappy, he will change it.
Not assumming anything, he should b concened, Im saying he could of and should of stepped in,his right to do so,hes the f coach. Isnt the first time.End of the plays and with previous games he looks dismayed and perplexed. If Lynch p off with Bevel then hes prob p off with Carroll for not supporting him Rightly so See what happens down the stretch

Even if it's NOT Lynch, have defenses think it is.

Empty sets down there haven't worked well.

Except Pete already addressed it on Brock and Danny and his pressers. If he doesn't like a play call he will change it. More specifically, he said you don't always do what is expected. You don't need to read body language and assume something that isn't there.

Shoot, TELL them you're giving it to Lynch, and still get the TD. Beast is that good.

It's no guarantee. I agree they should do it more to keep them guessing.

The fact is, fans thing it's a good play-call when it works and a bad play-call when it doesn't.

With Marshawn Lynch as our back and a potential running threat at QB, I will never think it's a good idea to throw from the 3 on first down. I would be against the idea even if we scored the majority of the time. You have 4 downs to get 3 yards. If you are not confident you can average 1 yd per carry, a championship is nothing more than an outrageous fantasy.

Power football breaks the will of the other team. Yes, you know we are going to run the ball. No, you are not going to stop us. Ask every player on the team, other than the WRs and perhaps the QB, and they will tell you they want to run that ball down the other teams throat. Can the finesse sh*t. This is still a man's game.

Ok, so, what do you think that the defense is thinking we'll do within the five yard line?

Run Beastmode, right?

Think we might have been thinking they'll expect that and we'd better run something alternative?

I think too many people are getting hung up on just this part of the play calling. I have no issues with mixing it up. You don't need an extreme goal line formation either. Fine, mix it up. But mix it up when it's to your benefit, when the reward outweighs the risk. On the other side of the coin, he doesn't run complex routes, and he doesn't make use of 100% of his options. This last game was actually much better, but why hasn't he used those mid range routes? Why does he continue to use 5-7 drops when the oline cannot protect? Again, much better this last weekend, but overall he has taken a lot of time to change. Against the Rams it was mindboggling. 7 step drop after 7 step drop, and not even once does he have someone, anyone chip those beast edge rushers Quinn and Long. He was a deer caught in the headlights.

With these goal line decisions, you have to weigh to risks and the rewards. If you have 1st and goal on the 3, then you better run the damn ball, unless you see some gimme play in the pass. Even if you decide to pass it, it is incredibly stupid to call one right over the middle. You saw the RB from the Bucs do that jump pass. That's because he couldn't see over the line. Wilson is the same height. He will have trouble with those quick passes right over the line in congested zones like goalline situations. Roll him out with the option to pass or run, if you're going to pass it around the goalline.

Exactly! So if Bevell only calls good plays, we should win every week, right?

I remember in last year's final regular season game, Russell scored the game-winning TD from the 1 on a designed pass that he ended up scrambling on. It wasn't a designed roll-out. Wonder if people were as livid over that play call?

The problems with the O-line don't really extend to the run game.

The problem is that they have no reason to expect a run. Because we...never...run.
Exactly. If you want them to think you're going to run, then you have to give them reason to think you're going to run, which is something we haven't done.
