Thomas named Pro Football Hall of Fame semifinalist, Marshawn Lynch misses out, Kam Chancellor, did not reach the semis.

Thomas, may go down as maybe the strangest Seahawks HOF of all-time….

The dude is unusual but is a baller….

Thomas, still currently believes (at his current age) is the best safety in the league….

Okay, Earl…..

Marshawn didn't have drama of 3-somes with his brother and other of Earl's Greatest Hits moments. Wasn't a crazy ex (or current wife) with a gun part of one of Earl's famous moments? Or was that the same incident as the 3-some?
same incident

The people acting like that would keep Earl out never heard of Lawrence Taylor. Earl was the best safety in football from 2011-2015. He'll get in.
That 4 years felt like shawns 4 years here , Earl made some play but BEASTMODE made some plays and if they had a quake emoji I would abuse it right now
Yeah , I didn'y fact check how many years marshawn was here but what an impact , and if alexander had a resurgence year like possibly some lesser known 10 year QB the hawks use to have he might have made it , it's probably why tyler even though really a legit candidate may never see a gold jacket
Bidnus decisions , or more aptly , keeping my brain intact after footballs over thinking
Those guys who are probably a lot smarter than most will outlast many of us lol

Earl was the best safety in football during that period. There is no question.

Much as I love Marshawn, he was NOT the best running back in football during the same period. That was Adrian Peterson, who will be a first ballot hall of famer. Marshawn never won a rushing title, it will take him a few years.

I can't tell if the PFR HOF monitor likes Marshawn's eventual chances or not. His number is only better than three RBs currently in the Hall, but at the same time, there's only one HOF eligible RB higher than him not in (Roger Craig), and he's higher than two RBs who made the semifinal cut this year (Watters, Fred Taylor). BTW, even though it's bolded, I wouldn't focus too much on the "Average HOF RB" line, since there are four guys badly skewing the average. It's not a median.

For Earl, they have DBs all grouped together. There are just two HOF eligible players not in ahead of him, but I'm not sure how relevant they are because one (Lester Hayes) was strictly a corner, while the other (Dave Grayson) moved to safety for the final four years of his career after playing the first six at corner. I am a bit surprised that Earl is just a touch behind Darrell Green, who was a paragon of longevity. I would have assumed Green would be much higher. I think PFR must not value longevity much because Wagner is still decently behind Luke Kuechly and just barely ahead of Patrick Willis. Also, the next RB not in the HOF listed after Lynch is Cookie Gilchrist, a back from the 60s who played in just 65 career games over four and a half seasons. For context, Cody Barton played in 65 games for the Seahawks. Will Dissly played in an additional seven.

A lot of Seahawks fans would be shocked at how little they think of Kam and Lockett's chances.

Before this year, I felt that Wagner is probably the only sure fire first ballot HOFer, with Thomas close behind.

Even Wagner will be at the whims of who else comes eligible in his first year of eligibility.

Beast Mode will have to rely on intangibles, not stats. He truly transcended the NFL. He transcended the Seahawks in a way that, to my recollection, only Larry Fitzgerald ever had, and Lynch did it better. Even rival team’s fans loved him.

A maximum of 8 candidates get into the HoF each year, and that includes coaches, tv presenters, radio personalities, NFL commissioners, etc. For a 10 year period only 70 players are likely to get in. At best Lynch will be near the bottom of the players who get in from his 10 year period. My guess is it'll be 8-15 years before Lynch gets in.

He's not.
Yeah , not that surprised as so many wide receivers have gaudy numbers but he did hit a milestone in seahawks lore last week but yeah , probably never happen when so many guys keep coming out of college and light up the league in just a couple years

His (Beast's) numbers are only borderline HOF, definitely not a first ballot HOFer.
This.

At some positions, numbers and stats rule, and running back is one of them. Lynch ranks 30th in all-time rushing yards, and to put that in perspective, there's 8 RBs with careers that overlap Beast's with more rushing yards, including Frank Gore, ranked 3rd all time, and Adrian Peterson, ranked 5th all time. Lynch was selected to the All-Pro team just once, went to 5 Pro Bowls, has one ring, and never led the league in rushing. That's a pretty skinny resume.

It's too bad that they can't have some type of subjective rating to factor into the balloting as Lynch was the heart and soul of our team, even our defense. He set the tone. I would take him over Frank Gore every day of the week and twice on Sundays. But I understand why he may never make it to the HOF.

But just imagine the ceremony, of Beast having his gold jacket fitted over his shoulders then turns around and jumps off the stage into the crowd backwards, grabbing his balls.
