First off I want to say this as one of the biggest soccer/football(international) fans that probably posts on here, I mean no disrespect at all.
I love the Sounders but it's so hard to watch the level of talent in the MLS and I think it's going to be a long time (hopefully 5-10 yrs) before soccer is as big as maybe hockey in the US. The problem is obvious, the lack of money, or should I say the lack of teams being able to spend money. Teams like Seattle, LA, NY that have packed crowds should be rewarded by being able to actually buy good players, but they can't. One or two players does not make a team, anyone knows this. So we get to watch 2 aging stars and a bunch of scrubs aimlessly kick a ball around and hope to put one or two goals in against a bad defense and a bad goalkeeper. I'm not saying that the MLS will ever come near leagues like BPL or SPL, but I'd say that the teams aren't even at the level of the lower leagues in Europe. Also, lets say good American players are developed, they get swiped up by the Euro teams all the time which makes the MLS even weaker. Believe me it pains me to say all this, but I think they need to put more money into the players so the league will get stronger, instead of weaker. I know there's the well LA signed... lets say Robbie Keane argument, but when you lose 20 something young Americans and add a 34 yr old (off the top of my head for Keane's age), that isn't making the league stronger, it is crippling this league because he's maybe a 1-2 yr player. This is why no one takes the MLS or soccer in this country seriously. With all that said, yeah I am a Sounder through and through, I just hope the MLS would get the balls to take a chance and allow real talent to take over this league so other countries would want to watch our matches, not the other way around.
