I hear the same message a lot from my boss too, but I’m an adult and don’t act like a spoiled brat just because he’s a bit repetitive at times. The fact those guys tuned him out says more about them than Pete. Just my two cents.
Right now we can’t worry about what may or may not happen in 3-4 more years. Maybe seeing how Pete jettisoned his stars will be a wake up call to the guys who are new now. Who knows?
As a Pete Carroll homer, I fault him for not starting the rebuild a year earlier, instead he tried to have one extra go with a locker room that he already lost, sacrificed future picks on Sheldon etc., Should we have started a year earlier, we could have what we are enjoying now a year earlier. We could have rid of Bev-Cable and the inmates a year earlier, without Cable, we wouldn't have signed Joeckel.
As for the inmates that ran the asylum, those guys absolutely placed their personal interests ahead of the team's, they believed that their personal performance was key to Hawks' success so they could voice whatever, and wherever. Instead of voicing their opinions in the locker room or to the coaches, they went public so they could get publicity, and promote their brand.
If our current defense play at the level of last few games, or improve some. 12s could safely said that it was the system that empowered the players to shine.
