I'm cheating but OOOOOOF. We didn't win the Ref lottery on this one. What Gemini has to say:

Clay Martin (Referee #19). Here is the breakdown:

  • The "Home Field" Stat: This is the worry. His crew has a heavy bias toward road teams recently. Road teams went 11-5 in his games this season, and historically, home teams cover the spread less than 42% of the time with him.
  • Rams Connection: He called our Week 9 game vs. the Rams. It was a flag fest: 20 total penalties, with 12 on us (95 yards) vs. 8 on them.
  • What to Watch: They call a ton of Offensive Holding. The O-Line is going to have to be incredibly disciplined, or he will kill our drives.
Bottom line: The 12s need to be loud, but the team needs to be clean. This crew doesn't mind silencing a home crowd with laundry.

Calm down. I looked at the Clay Martin stats on Pro Football Reference.

The NFL average for home team wins is 53%, meaning that on average the home team wins 53 percent of its games. In games refereed by Clay Martin, the home team has won 62 percent of those games this year.

48 percent of the flags his crew has thrown has been against home teams, where as the league average is 49 percent.

There's enough to be anxious about without bringing in a conspiracy theory. Will there be bad calls? Undoubtedly. But the NFL would clearly prefer a Seahawks-Patriots game.

The two Seahawks Super Bowls in 2014 and 2015 were among the most watched, with 120.8 million viewers in 2015. By contrast, the Rams-Bengals in 2022, when the game was available through more services and to more locations, drew only 112 million.

Another thing to consider :

In 2020, Sam Darnold uttered those infamous words "I see ghosts" when he was facing the PATRIOTS.

It remains the core reason to this day why Darnold continues to be underestimated and I'm sure the media would love to see Darnold attempt to put an end to that by beating the Patriots in the SB.

Not too worried.

How many other teams in the league have two plays the refs had a significant say in that are actually named and either won or played a significant role in determining the outcome?

Fail Mary
Zachwards Pass

Both were in our house.

Both were against arguably more popular teams with superstar, darling QBs.

And that's to say nothing for how the refs didn't interfere in our comeback against Rodgers and the Pack in the last NFCCG we played in - I am sure they could have called a few holding penalties to nullify our comeback if they wanted their golden boy to win.

I Just have to ask:

are you stuck on the idea that Darnold "sees ghosts" as a thing about Darnold?

Cuz, dude - the Rams ended his season in the playoffs last year. He saw ghosts again.

I suggest you let that go and have confidence in the fact that Darnold is a really good QB.

They totally missed a blatant OPI by Puka in Sundays game. And I’m pretty convinced they miss a lot of the Rams pick plays. Whether that’s intentional or not is very much up for interpretation.

If there was any steering going on, it would be in favor of the Seahawks, who are one of the most popular teams, not the Rams who have one of the smaller fan bases. Ask the Rams how they feel about the Zachward pass.
Yeah. Also, the California teams switch cities faster than the average person can keep track of. Part of holding fan support is a rich history.

You really have no idea about me, huh?

I'm the biggest Darnold stan around.

I was illustrating what the MEDIA would prefer to see in the SuperBowl.

Of course I don't think he is seeing ghosts!!! lol

Never thought I'd basically be accused of being Anti-Darnold....that's a first.

Because "you" just implied that "I'm" thinking that Darnold sees ghosts when that is not true.

And that if you had noticed from the time I arrived here, I was far from being the person you think I was.

Though I am wondering now...why am I arguing with a Rams fan to begin with? 🤔

And why do I have to explain myself at all?

huh. I must be bored. That's probably it. 🥱

Is it Sunday yet?

Bingo!!

Also yall quoting AI and stuff on the officials and stuff.. double check before you post that it’s correct. Ie the “rams connection” isn’t even correct for this year

I was quoting AI?

So that tweet was just AI then?

If so, then Adam Schefter got played.

I am responding to what you posted.

I do not track what time you arrived here. Nor do I care, quite frankly.

ETA: But apparently, I have been here 13 years longer than you.

If true it should be blasted out there simply so there might be an inclination in the Seahawks favor if it reaches the league or his ears.

I think you should write a personal letter to the ref who celebrated the hawks TD in our last game.

She will love you forever and be happy to hear from you.
