Regarding Andrew Luck and the Colts.
Okay he took a 2-14 team and went 11-6.
The Colts also dismantled their whole team from FO, Coaching, and more than half their starters especially on offense.
Grison not only put together a great draft in 2012 hitting on many picks but they became an Island of Misfit toys in gathering veteran free agents, they spent cap space very wisely, adding about 10 vets to the core players they decided to keep guys like Wayne, Mathis, Veintari, Freeny plus others.
But the thing that made it much easier for Luck, was that it was his team, the Colts stocked half that team with Luck's peers, he was the number 1 draft pick, he was the franchise guy not only from day 1 but even before 3 weeks before the draft.
Sure the expectations to replace Manning were there but it wasn't a beast of burden... everyone made it out to be, Luck was comfortable in his role and I don't feel his performances were forced to overcome the Manning stigmata.
It was 100% Lucks team in 2012 from the beginning.
Everyone knows Wilson's story in comparison 3rd round pick, 75th overall, shared reps with TJack and Flynn which meant only a third of no. 1 reps. Won starting job but it didn't come with the team's respect especially when many players thought TJack was "the guy" but the team boots him for a 7th round pick and then crowns Wilson. Wilson had to earn every bit of his respect, it wasn't handed to him on a silver platter. And because of that it took half a season for the offense to find its chemistry and for 52 players minus Flynn to rally around Wilson as "the guy"
RUNNING GAME: Okay the Seahawks have Beastmode, its not a fair comparison.
Wrong: No offense but the Colts have had 4 starting RB the last two seasons with Luck, and 2 were former 1st round picks.
Colts hit on Vic Ballard, who had a solid rookie campaign.
Plus do-it-all RB, Donald Brown.
In 2013, Colts signed Ahmad Bradshaw, former starter for NYG to back up Ballard.
However, Ballard got hurt which led to the team eventually trading for Trent Richardson.
Are you seriously telling me the Colts can't doing anything with Ballard, Brown, Bradshaw, or Richardson and its unfair because Wilson has Marshawn Lynch.
Colts should have thought about that they could have took any RB in the draft with their '13 1st rounder...in hindsight...they could have traded down about 24 selections and still have their pick of any RB in the draft save for Giovanni Bernard taken 37th. A trade down like that would have netted a 3rd and 5th rounder in many cases.
With all that said it just comes down to the numbers and Wilson is just better. You can probably even compare the statistics against teams that have both played Wilson and Luck thus far in their careers and I'm sure Wilson will still overcome Luck.
