Good Morning Seahawk fans,

I've been debating with my fellow Jaguar fans on our message board.

I didn't know there's enough Jaguar fans to even have a debate. How about mass debation? .....but that's not even funny.

RW is my second favorite player in the game today (Lynch). As a person, I'd be happy if he married my daughter (not Lynch). I would trade my new son in law straight-up for Luck tomorrow. Don't be fooled by mere stats. Both players are remarkable, but there's a saying in boxing that applies almost everywhere else too: "a good little man seldom beats a good big man". I believe Luck will have a longer career than RW, that the sole reason for my decision.

Just 10% of this board would make that trade, I'd bet 90% of all GMs would. I believe Pete would be in that group, too. Someone commented "Pete likes a more mobile QB". That is incorrect and no better way to gauge this than by looking at the QBs he recruited at SC. In fact, and coincidently, I think Andrew Luck was the most mobile QB he ever recruited.

I am incredibly happy we have Wilson and Luck is the only QB alive, inc Rodgers, I would take in trade for him.

LOL pete trading Wilson, are you HIGH? I think he is in love with Wilson, they are almost identical in personality IMO and he is EXACTLY what Pete wants at QB.

Why yes, I am high. But that aside, you may want to entertain yourself with some actual research. Look at every QB Pete ever recruited. Are you delusional enough to believe that if Luck was sitting at 28 (?) when we picked, Pete would have passed on him?

Good Morning Seahawk fans,

I'm a Jaguar fan but follow the Seahawks because of the Gus Bradley connection; I'm also a Wisconsin Badger fan so I'm fond of Russell Wilson. I've been debating with my fellow Jaguar fans on our message board over which QB (Wilson or Luck) is better at this point their careers. I've watched every Seattle Seahawk game this year (Wilson is on my fantasy squad), and it amazes me how the media and fans outside the NFC West simply don't know how good Russell Wilson is, I personally believe he's a top 5 QB in this league, his numbers are gaudy, and they would be a lot better if he threw the ball for 4 quarters. I was recently told by one of my fellow Jaguar fans that 9 out of 10 Seahawk fans would take Luck over Wilson, so I want to hear straight from the horse’s mouth; which QB would you rather have?

Russell Wilson, at least as of now. I do think that Luck has a better chance at long term greatness due to the differences in their playing style, but I really like Russell as he's playing today. I used to have some reservations about Russell's ability to hit on the deep ball, but he's answered them quite nicely this season.

One thing with RW is that he's shown he can succeed in multiple offenses. 3 in 3 years to be exact. At NC state, he was in shotgun 75% of the time running a WC offense. At Wisconsin, he was under center 90% of the time and mastered their pro-style play book in under 3 weeks. Now in his second season in Bevell's offense and he's still just getting better every game. Luck had Arians offense last year and while good, he struggled quite a bit. Now he's back in his college offense with Pep and his college TE, Fleener. Even with that advantage, RW has looked better than Luck

Luck was the best college QB I ever scouted, and was the single highest ranked player I ever had going into the draft. And, as a pro, he has not really disappointed. He's a great QB with a great career ahead of him.

He also has more upside than Wilson - though this is debatable.

With that said, after nearly two years as pros, I would take Wilson ahead of him. Why? Wilson is better QB today than Luck. The numbers show this, sure, but ultimately it comes down to this: If we had drafted Luck in the third round last year, I'm certain that we would have won fewer games, and not be as well positioned to make a run this year. If you put Wilson in Indy, I don't know who wins more games - but let's be honest, who cares about Indy?

Without exaggeration, there is no QB in the league that I would take over Wilson right now. None. Though, if I had to choose a #2, that would probably be Luck (or Rodgers).

Those are two different questions. Of course we would have taken luck if he were available two years ago. Who was higher rated come draft time isn't really the point. Who is the better qb for what we're running right now? Who is going to have the better career? I saw that you mentioned that Luck is taller and that RWs mobility would not prevent Pete from trading him. Are there other reasons you'd pull that trigger?

Wouldn't swap RW for any quarterback in the league.

Factor in:

Age
Work ethic
Cerebral appraoch
Statistical efficiency
How he performs in the fourth quarter. Thrives at crunch time.
Mobility
How he shrugs off bad plays and lives for the next one. Unflappable.
His ambassador skills.
How he ends interviews with "Go Hawks"
His love of the game
He keeps getting better. Can't really envision his ceiling. Whatever it is, it is way up there.

There is no quarterback alive that brings as much value to the team. He is almost too good to be true. I have followed the Hawks since 1976 expansion year. I have been waiting for Russell Wilson to arrive my entire life. Take it from a life long fan. He is a once in a lifetime player.

I used to visualize Peyton Manning's brain in Michael Vick's body. I doubt Wilson gets THAT good, but he will approximate it enough to become legendary. When he hangs it up, the Hall of Fame awaits.

Heres a little something I did research on the other day

Both Wilson and Luck have been great at coming back, but everyone says how clutch luck is. Man hes so clutch.... but do you know what Luck looks like in the last 2 min of each half for their careers and the 4th quarter in a close game.

Last 2min of each half
Luck has a 72.5 rating with 6 TDs and 5Ints
Wilson has a 103.5 rating with 11TD, 3int

In the 4th quarter total +/- 7 points
Luck 81.75 rating, 5TD, 2Int
Wilson 87.45 rating 7TD, 4Int

Your point is very valid, Jkitsune. Let's not forget, I was "high" when I wrote that last night. LOL. You're correct, though. If we are going strictly off of today's performances, it would be hard to jettison RW. And hell...who'd want to?

I was just putting my 2 cents in on a rhetorical question. I think RW's stature prevents him from doing things Luck can do. But there's no question that same size difference allows Russ to do things Luck can't do. The biggest difference for me would be Luck's pocket presence. He steps up with authority and cannons the ball. Russ is more comfortable rolling away from pressure and I think that could ultimately abbreviate his career (in comparison to Luck's). The great thing about these two, Luck would say Wilson is better and Wilson would say Luck is better. 2 fine young men and the league is fortunate to have them both, IMO.

Why do you want the thread to die? You don't really suppose the final word on this matter has been spoken do you?

The Wilson/Luck comparison is gonna be relevant for a very long time.

You're forgetting some components though. Few (apparently) understand the importance of a Marshawn Lynch to a QB's success. Not attempting to take away from your bottom line...'we have a great young QB in Russell Wilson'. Right? I couldn't agree more.

A voice of reason.

Isn't this fun people?? Why so sensitive to the topic? Let us hope these two battle for the top spot for the next decade and beyond. Do you think this pitting QB vs QB was invented to detract from RW's greatness? Whether it was Starr vs. Stabauch or Marino vs. Elway, debating QBs is what fans (of the sport, not team) do. With new posters like C-Hawkbob rolling in, such debates are sure to educate while providing entertainment.

Hey Bob...knew you a couple years back at the PI. I was Chuckwow then. Which is slang for masturbation (in Thai). Hawkwow gives me a similar thrill, though. ; )

BTW Bob...Luck or Wilson?

Agreed hence the smiley. Luck and Wilson are this decade's Brady and Manning and we (Seahawks) are involved!
