Luck is the prototypical Elway clone who is an excellent pocket passer. Wilson is not something we've truly seen before and his definition is still being defined.
Elway was a powerful runner who quickly got smart and learned to prolong his career. Wilson we HAVE seen before. He's Jim Zorn. He's Fran Tarkenton.

His legs are like Tark, yeah. But he's a better passer than both. He's a better passer than Luck.

Andrew Luck has 306 (45%!) more career pass attempts than Wilson.

Luck: 974
Wilson: 668

Those 306 more pass attempts has allowed Luck to throw 8 LESS touchdowns AND 8 More interceptions.

Luck: 37-24
Wilson: 45-16

That's just ridiculous. Career passer rating to date?

Luck: 80.2
Wilson: 102.1

Who in their right mind can legitimately make the case that Luck is better than Wilson?

Sadly Alot of people. I post on another general NFL site and there was a 100page thread on Luck vs Wilson and youd be shocked at some of the things posted haha. The only thing people supporting Luck could come up with is the Eye test and that Wilson is carried by his team and is a game manager. OH and his Oline is worse than Wilsons also because having a backup LT,RT for most of the season and backup C for a few games is awesome haha.

As a SeaHawk fan I'll take all the "luck" we can get. Not Andrew Luck though. The way this SeaHawk team is set up, #3 Russell Wilson is a perfect fit.
Your friend was 100% wrong. In fact I think you would be hard pressed to find 9 Seahawk fans that would take luck over Wilson, let alone 9 out of 10.

Russell is my choice as well.

He has already shown himself to be Peyton-like and Brady-like with his dedication and preparation.

Luck is more athletic but Russell is just the more complete package and consummate leader of his team.

That said, if we didn't have Russell I would want Andrew Luck to be the Hawks QB for the next 15 years more than any other QB currently in the league.

So far, the number of people in this thread who'd prefer Luck: 0

Quite frankly, Wilson was the steal of the 2012 draft. If teams could have a do over, he'd go #2 at the minimum.

I agree, and knowing what we know at this point in time. I would bet that Wilson takes the #1 spot.
I know you said #2 minimum. I just had to go ahead and say it.

Oh Let me Also point out Luck might not even be the 2nd!!!! ranked QB in his own draft Class. Looks like the 3rd rounders are tearing it up.

3rd round 75th pick Wilson
3rd round 88th pick NICK FOLES

Now I know it is a small sample size but Foles is playing better than Luck.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if you factor in the easy schedule the Colts faced last year and you put unbiased officiating in all their games going from when Luck was drafted until today and realize that the total # of wins Luck has would be cut in half, you have your answer, as well.

Not sure bout the "unbiased officiating" conspiracy theory, but the Hawks have had one of the easiest strength of schedules all year..........plus RW has A LOT more talent around him than Luck.

We'd have this debate now at least 200 times on this forum. The correct answer is "either." Both are amazingly talented QB's with the sky's the limit ceilings, and we'd be lucky to have either.

I thought someone posted something about DVOA or something like that, that had the hawks pretty high for opponents...maybe im wrong but I could of sworn there was something saying our schedule wasnt "easy"

Well here's the most current strength of schedule rankings as of 11/21. We're #32

http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/ranking ... le-by-team

Yes, before the season started we were projected to have one of the hardest schedules, but that was before teams like the Falcons, Giants, Bucs, Texans and Rams/Cards decided to stink.

Based on opponent overall quality, yeah, our schedule has been relatively tame this year.

The defenses we've faced have been beastly until recently, for the most part. But we haven't been facing a murderer's row of offenses by any stretch of the imagination.

And remember, those SOS measurements continue taking into account the teams after you've played them. We might have struggled to beat a tough 2-1 Texans team in their house, but that win looks less and less impressive as Houston's season spirals out of control. It's the opposite of the Bucs situation, where they looked awful up until they faced us, and they've been looking much better since.

Yeah I lurk that forum occasionally as well. That thread was full of ridiculousness. They ended up locking it. It was literally 100 pages of Wilson fans posting stats and game examples and luck fans saying "but Luck took a 2-14 team to the playoffs".

Good Morning Seahawk fans,

I'm a Jaguar fan but follow the Seahawks because of the Gus Bradley connection; I'm also a Wisconsin Badger fan so I'm fond of Russell Wilson. I've been debating with my fellow Jaguar fans on our message board over which QB (Wilson or Luck) is better at this point their careers. I've watched every Seattle Seahawk game this year (Wilson is on my fantasy squad), and it amazes me how the media and fans outside the NFC West simply don't know how good Russell Wilson is, I personally believe he's a top 5 QB in this league, his numbers are gaudy, and they would be a lot better if he threw the ball for 4 quarters. I was recently told by one of my fellow Jaguar fans that 9 out of 10 Seahawk fans would take Luck over Wilson, so I want to hear straight from the horse’s mouth; which QB would you rather have?

I think Wilson fits our look better. They have a swag about them that luck would just look weird being a part of. I would think luck would be just fine. But Wilson has taken our look to a whole diff level.

Russell Wilson has done it without his starting tackles. He's done it without a true #1 receiver. I think Russell has the Tom Brady gift of being effective regardless of who's catching the passes.

Luck had Reggie Wayne and has been awful since Wayne got injured. For that reason, I really disagree that the Seahawks would be as good as they are today with Luck as its QB.

I think Wilson would be a dominate player in any football era...but for reasons I can't articulate, it just seems like he's really going to excel in the direction the league is taking. He's a football assassin.

As a die hard Niner fan, to me this question is like asking whom would you prefer Brees or Brady, both are future HOF'ers. I would take either over Kaep, RG3 or Cam.

I'll be at the Kaep vs. RG3 show on Monday night, routing for my Niners for that darn wildcard spot as a much better team knocked of off the top of the west this year.

Wow. Respect. It's not often we get a Niner fan that gives RW and our team credit without a backhanded compliment.

I love Luck. I think when it's all said and done he can be one of the all-time greats.

But the choice is Wilson. Russell Wilson was the perfect fit for this franchise. No question.

To me there is no wrong choice here but I would prefer Wilson. But just imagine Luck with Harvin for the next 5 1/2 years? The Wilson/Harvin combo is one that is going to dominate the NFL for years going forward.
