LOL, I suspect it’s a push really and I only picked Akers b/c he is experienced and maybe finally healthy again whereas Finley could be squeezed through onto the PS.

We’ll be a lot clearer about the RB situation once the draft is done. Another reason was Akers was kept with futures deal. The team genuinely likes Finley though and suspects he could be a keeper and they are pretty good at finding DBs.

Seahawks sign a FA RB:

RB- Emmanuel Wilson, 1 yr./$2.1 Mil

Source Ian Rappoport.

Also: https://www.fieldgulls.com/seattle-...-packers-running-back-emanuel-wilson-nfl-news

Wilson was an untendered RFA so his addition doesn't count as FA pickup for comp pick purposes.

Updated.

This addition now brings the number of RBs presently under contract to the team to 7. We will see what the draft brings. As usually is the case wherever there is roster position with team questions about it the numbers seem to get larger.

I'll miss Dareke Young's superb special teams play and physical blocking in the offense.

The team loses a for sure often unrecognized very solid ST player with Young signing with Raiders. Clearly Kubiak recognized his abilities.

The team will need a new gunner next season.

The draft and a few more seem next with them only paying out slightly more than 1/3 of their available cap.

So far so good!

From this to me it seems clear the team has a plan at CB and are bulking up at a few other position to ensure competition for starting spots is intense.

For you cap geeks out there ... Spotrac has posted a net "cap adjustment" for the Seahawks at a negative $1,176,444

Cap adjustments happen for a number of reasons. The most likely reason we're negative is incentives that were considered "not likely to be earned" but were actually earned. For example, Sam Darnold got an extra $500K for winning the big game so that amount rolls into 2026. Other things could be positive, like guaranteed salaries that were off-set to other teams. Marquez Valdes-Scandling had a lot of guarantees in his Seahawks contract, but he went on to get a salary with Pittsburgh so some of that credits back to us. Overall, I was expecting a negative adjustment.

I don't think we'll ever know all the plusses and minuses that go into that adjustment but if you're trying to add up the Seahawks exact cap situation it's part of the equation. After all the new deals are tallied I should have a pretty good idea where the team is. I suspect "available cap" will land somewhere in the mid $30M range. Certainly enough to work on the deals for existing players and still add a body or two.

Presently OTC.com says the Hawks have $42,250+ mil in available cap. Is Spotrac using the 2025 numbers? Something isn’t computing.

That $42M is without details on a few of the recent deals. Also, Spotrac and OTC will have different values for some players. After all the full cap hits of the smaller deals are proposed I'm seeing us around $38M but I'll update when I know more. Always remember -- cap space is fluid and there is no exact answer, just math based on the best available info at the moment.
