That is curious but a very reputable site ourlads.com says he’s on the roster. I frequently check with that site for numbers and their thought on depth charts so I have an informed idea before my own wild ass guess.

It’s possible we all may have jumped the gun here though with no official signing announcement, but for now, given the seagulls.com site says he’s agreed with the team, I’ll leave him. I will now carefully watch this b/cwe do try to be accurate here. I appreciate the heads up for sure.

I had wondered about the others with their “official signings” being delayed but getting the player to the official signing can be delayed for a myriad of reasons.

Yeah --- interesting that Ourlads has him there. I scrolled through the NFL.Com transactions (which they don't make easy to do) and the signing doesn't show up there (all the others do). We shall wait and see.

I agree this seems a tad odd as you’d think Bell would want to sign up quickly.

It’s possible that they have agreed to a delay in signing as he could be out of town or out of the country. There’s really no emergent need to sign ASAP

The only move that has not been officially announced by the Seahawks is the JSN extension.

Quick question. I’ve been looking at the numbers but they don’t make sense. We have his 4th year plus his 5th year option then a 4 year extension. OTC shows a seventh year but aren’t counting it for any cap money except a $2.5 million salary. Do you know why this extra year would be there without using it to spread out the bonus?

The 7th year is a void year, so there's no salary, just remaining pro rated bonus.

Ok I see my mistake now. Thank you. I was reading it as the salary chart and it’s just the cap chart.

Spotrac chart shows it better for what I was thinking with the breakdowns.

Yeah ... I've been an OTC fan for many years, but lately Spotrac has stepped up the details of contracts. It's good to always check both sites as sometimes contracts will be presented a little differently and it's interesting to try to figure out why.

The other advantage of a void year is it allows the team to push more salary into future years if they choose to convert base into bonus along the way.

JSN has now been signed to his extension.

Sure would appreciate Hawkstorian's interpretation of this deal one the numbers are more fully known.

He's effectively under contract for 5 more years?

With WR salary inflation and the expanding cap this then seemingly is a good deal for the team.

Let's hope they can get a deal done with Witherspoon who was amazingly good in that NFC-C game against LAR. Keeping him here and happy is essential to the team remaining competitive.
