Nelson Cruz having a career year stings. A lot.

oh well... noone expected it, obviously, by the contract he got.

onwards... big series with Tampa Bay
Just a matter of time before Cruz is busted AGAIN for steroids/HGH, and teams knew this. That's why no team signed him to a long term deal.

Yep. This is why I am not lamenting us not getting Cruz.

ok... but on a one year deal worth 8 mill its worth the risk. I'm certain a handful of teams (the Ms included) are shaking their head at his early production. 21 HRs...or Justin Smoak? Really, all this illustrates is Morales needs to be in the M's lineup by the time they get back from Tampa.

Look, i dont care either way, i was just surprised when I read he was doing well. I wasnt arsed when we didnt sign him so am by no means lamenting not.

Yeah, we need to snag Morales, trade for a back-of-the-rotation starter, and see about a guy like Marlon Byrd on the cheap in terms of what we'd have to give up. I don't think it's a good idea to get too crazy with trades because we are NOT catching the Athletics, which means that if we make it, it's to enter a one-game playoff. I likes our chances in that playoff if Felix or Kuma is pitching, but it's still just one game and not even a divisional series.

Young and Elias are pretty solid back of the rotation guys, one would probably take over long relief if Paxton and Walker return to form. We should know more on Morales today I would hope!

There's no guarantee that Paxton will get back - he's been shelved again. Walker looks not so great in Tacoma right now. Neither of them may come back this year - time to go get a fifth starter that can win a game at least every once in awhile.

He will play outfield correct? I don't really want to develop another power hitting catcher after Clement lol.

Jack Z was on 710 and said they would start him playing in the outfield.

I like the way the team is playing right now. Bullpen and starters are working very well and complimenting each other well. Now we just have to get the offense a little life, hopefully we can get Morales as he would be a solid pickup right now and a nice piece to have behind Cano.

Still have a feeling Safeco would have chewed up Cruz and spit him out. His homepark is a slow pitch softball field dimension wise. Seattle needs another bat or two, never felt Cruz was it.

I feel pretty much the same about Cruz, people just don't play here like they do elsewhere..You can look at Morse also..That being said,we are playing good ball..I love the pitching besides the 5th starter ..The bats have picked up lately and I don't have an explanation on how they do it..I can only think that it has to do with "team" mentality that comes with a good clubhouse..As for not catching the A's-Why not? There is lots of baseball left and injuries/slumps happen..It could be them..I'm not counting our team out of anything..Go Mariners!!!

While the bats may have picked up, we are still teetering on one of those statistical ledges. the hits we do get could start coming with noone on instead of RISP, and then suddenly we are back to 1-2 runs a game. We need another bat (or two)

the pitching will carry us. We've battled through poor stretches in the back of the rotation and Felix's 3 game swoon. Club can make some noise this weekend against the worst team in the AL.

Solid draft so far as well, two big bats to play the outfield. Jackson will be in AAA by start of 2015.

Zunino shakes his head at this comment!

Tons of differences between HS and college players. But Jackson is a RF

Kendrys Morales looked like himself when he played here. It's not impossible to hit at Safeco, especially as we get into the warmer summer months. I expect Cano to get better as the season wears on as well.

Yep, not worried about Cano in the least. He is a professional hitter, who has missed a few HR's by mere inches. As it warms up the ball really starts to fly out of Safeco and it plays much like your average ballpark.

So you're saying Cano should reach double-digit home runs by August?
