The link above has got each team's estimated current cap values and dates when things like RFA offers and franchise tags need to be taken care of. It's a good place to start for those who don't know the details or those who just want a reference point on what's going on now. They are showing a slight raise in the cap for 2014 due to carry over, so that leaves us about $2 million in current cap space, so we don't NEED to cut anyone right away, but we will need to do have quite a few contracts to rework or cut free during this off season.

Definitely not accurate. It counts 7 players as already gone, but isn't allotting the cap space. For example bennett opens up 5 mil till he is resigned

Are you looking at the 2014 numbers? The list on the link I sent you is our total signed players (45). It is as correct as can be at this moment. You can only count players who have actually got signed contracts.

There are a ton of contracts that are going to get cut or restructured. It will be an interesting offseason:

Red Bryant
Chris Clemons
Zach Miller
Sidney Rice
Paul McQuistan

I also know there will be two offseason priorities:

Re-sign Michael Bennett
Extend Earl Thomas

We will also try to re-sign Tate and tender Baldwin.

I expect about a 3 year contract for Bennett,a 3-4 year contract for Tate and to extend Earl Thomas for 4-6 years so that we may have control over cap hits for the forseeable future.

Sherman and Wilson will come next year (considering Wilson can't even negotiate until after next season).

In my opinion, it would be wise to talk to Sherman now to get him off his current deal. It'd be nice to keep him on the cheap, but that move might backfire.

Also, no one's talking about Maxwell. IMO, we really need to get him on a deal before he has his Flacco moment and Seattle can't keep him.

True. But at the end of the day, Earl Thomas and Chancellor make the secondary go so I think locking them up is the most important first. At the end of the day, I think we only keep 1 of Thurmond, Maxwell and Sherman.

I think keeping Thomas, Chancellor and Sherman basically stabilizes the secondary for years to come. I definitely don't think we need to pay our second corner at the expense of other positions - specifically defensive line.

If those numbers are accurate then I'm concerned. If Seattle signed back all of their free agents back at the same prices they were paid last season (bargain prices), that would put Seattle about $15 million over the cap. Even if the team outright cut Rice and outright cut Miller, and then got their FAs back on bargain prices, it would still be very difficult to fit in under the cap. And that's not factoring extensions for guys like Earl or Sherman.

Plus, there's no way they get Tate back for his rookie deal kind of salary, Baldwin's going to see a nice raise from his RFA tender, etc.

This is going to be a tough offseason. I can actually envision a scenario where Golden Tate signs for $3 million a season, and Seattle won't pony up the cash to match.

I think Seattle will probably be very aggressive freeing up money because I think they'll want to take advantage of other team's free agents too. The free agent market is more slanted towards Seattle than I've ever seen before, for any NFL team.

Correct, what I am saying has to be incorrect is the available cap space. That's pretty much where we were sitting going in to the season, and 8 players no longer under contract haven't been accounted for in freeing up cap space. That's what I'm saying. Prime example is Bennett opens up 5 mil till he is resigned.

But Harvin and Avrils contracts go way up this year, hence the difference.

It is correct because you only count the top 51 signed players and we currently have only 45. There will have to be cutting and restructuring to get it done. People look at miller and rice but other guys make good money right now and can be restructured to make good money but lower the cdp for this year. Also for those concerned about Earl and the cap, don't be. Earl is scheduled to make over $5 million this year. They can extend him and actually keep his cap number at or below where it is now.
