Hey... We just hit United 3-0 at Old Trafford!

Add that to 5-0 at WHL, 4-0 and 5-1 at Anfield...

(3-0 at Southampton, 5-3 at Stoke)

Chelsea are still a much better side than Arsenal even at that, Gate. Gonna be a tough game. Hard to get a win at the bridge. Still, not really a bad result for Liverpool can come out of that game. A Chelsea win gives us a bit of a cushion between us and Arsenal, An Arsenal win means we'd be ahead of Chelsea with a game in hand, and a draw means both of those things. Liverpool SHOULD beat Cardiff, but we thought that about West Brom, Hull and Villa, too. No easy matches left at this stage, for anyone.

If Chelsea go through to the next round of the CL, they could drop points in the league as a result of fighting on both fronts. That result against Villa yesterday was scary for them. Arsenal are going to throw everything they have at the FA cup, I think, as they're heavily favored. City are gonna start having a LOT of matches in a short space of time here. They look bloody good, though. I'd have to say they're favorites. Hard to see too many places for them to drop points, except maybe at Anfield.

It is gonna be a tough game regardless, but Chelsea haven't really been all that impressive of late and with that loss at Villa Park and an immediate difficult fixture in Europe, this could be a golden opportunity for Arsenal.

we will just add him to the list: Dempsey, Sigurrdson, Willian, Dapoue, Ericksen, Lamela, Soldado

actually... Spurs have done us a huge favor. aside from Willian doing the business with Chelsea and the occassional Ericksen free kick, thats a laundry list of tepid transfers.

you couldnt muster a goal at home to Arsenal? come on!

So what you're implying is that Luverpool's scouts are rubbish?Just to rub salt in the wound you could add Suarez, who Spurs were in on before Liverpool, if you believe what you read in the papers. There's conjecture about whether Liverpool'stole' him from us or not, though. It appears that Harry nixed any potential deal as he thought Defoe was better. Also, Spurs were being linked with Charlie Adam just before Liverpool got him.

Anyways, most of those players had only been linked vaguely to Liverpool, usually (although not always, admittedly) along with a host of other clubs.
But surely it's fairly obvious that an agent who is speaking to Liverpool will call Spurs to gauge interest before signing a deal and vice versa. They'll also be calling any other club with more money, something which Liverpool has no doubt benefitted from over the decades.

there does seem to be a connection, for sure, between the two clubs. Probably in terms of table location, competitive value and what a player can expect in terms of a salary/transfer fee it makes sense.

I thought the timing of this was quite interesting. I have little doubt Spurs are nowhere near Kono at the moment, nor would the Dnipro owner bother himself with the comments if they truly were.

He seems to be on a wind up, either based on his own feelings or possibly at the urging of his dear friend at Chelsea

to be fair.. i think Liverpool have bigger targets

He didn't have very good games agajnst Spurs in the Europa League anyway. And now that Liverpool will have Champions League again they are sure to have right of first refusal.

He played very well i thought. was their best player at least.

I like the looks of him. He'd give Liverpool more flexibility with their use of Sterling and Coutinho.

BR seems to be adopting this Diamond mid for certain games (the last two specifically). That has put Sterling into a CAM role, which isnt his strongest position (although somehow he's better at it than Coutinho? I'm assuming its because of his defending). That seems to be the position Liverpool will need to fill the most, someone to play in front of the holding and behind SAS. Kono is more of a wide player, so not sure if he's more than a reserve to Sterling...

I'll have to check if I still have the 2nd game on the dvr. I recall a very good free kick but also a lot of wayward passes and dribbling into tackles. Might be being unfair. I do tend to end up focusing more on the Spurs players.

Result is all that matters in the end, Simon. There's no easy matches left, and those bottom-table clubs are going to fight hard for every point now.

ISWT, remember if we win our game in hand and beat Chelsea at Anfield, we'll have the advantage there. Their result against Villa shows that nothing is for certain anymore.

As for Arsenal....what more is there to say? They look woeful. Nothing about that performance was remotely redeeming. Chelsea look strong enough, but can still be beaten. City though....not so sure. Will be watching this united match midweek with an eagerness. This is the one match I'd REALLY like United to get a result in.

Its all up for grabs, we do need City to drop 1 point anywhere along the line and win our games and get a shiny medal :)

I'm a defender at heart (and by trade) so the concessions against poor teams hurts my heart a little... I still think we've got the title in our grasp...maybe not favorites but well in for it.

Nearly didn't bother posting but wouldn't want people thinking I only go into detail when we lose.

Good win today, in the end, but we got away with one I feel and on another day we'd have had absolutely no chance of getting back into the game. They were springing from midfield very quickly, and we were extremely fortunate not to be caught out over the top on more occasions than we were. Lallana, J-Rod and Lambert have a great understanding and Ward-Prowse was excellent I thought. Another potential England player in a few years if his progression continues.

However, their goals came because we have probably the worst full back pairing in the league playing right now. Seriously can't think of any worse than the two pub players at right and left back. Naughton's two errors for the goals were unforgivable. Do not let the ball bounce from a goal kick, and then for the second goal I really don't know what he is trying to do. Thankfully they haven't mattered in the end, but at our level you just can't perform like that. Naughton isn't even my biggest concern at the position though. At least Naughton looks like he cares and tries to make amends. Danny Rose is useless. Doesn't offer anything defensively or offensively, doesn't seem to care at all and is the biggest weak link in our side. He mouths of regularly to the media that if we sign another left back that he'll have to consider his options, but if he had actually performed at even an average level we wouldn't need to. The position is yours to lose and right now he is losing it.

The positives today were obviously Eriksen, who gave one of the performances he's capable of and raises the excitement levels for the future, and Soldado who had a superb game linking up with Christian. Eriksen played great floating off Soldado, scored twice, set up another, and proves why he was our best business from the summer. I am hoping next year we build the team around him because he's got all the ability in the world and is the future of this club. Well that is until he has a great season and Levy flogs him to Madrid. I feel a front three of him, Lamela and Chadli/An other could be very successful next season. Soldado's link up play has been good all season, but today, with Ade out, his enthusiasm and commitment was back, chasing down every ball, playing some beautiful touches, and making life miserable for Southampton's centre halves. It's a shame he couldn't get a goal, Chadli and Eriksen should have assisted him, but he was very good. Those who have been praising Lovren and wanting to sign him in the summer could be in for a shock because I thought he was diabolical today. Soldado gave him the run around and he was mildly at fault for two of our goals.

Other decent performances came from Chadli, Siggy and Kaboul and overall we can't have too many complaints with the results, particularly because we absolutely dominated the second half and missed a few glorious opportunities before Siggy's winner.

I think Tim got it very wrong at the start, he was out coached, but thankfully the changes made a difference. This doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, the season is over but at least we should finish above Southampton now.

Back down to earth next week with a 5-0 defeat at Liverpool, probably with a man sent off.
