Giroud just doesn't pass the eye test for me. Too wasteful in front of the net.

His movement off the ball is tremendous. It really is. But he's a "finisher"... meaning his strength is to put himself in position to finish. he doesnt create chances with the ball.

Aguero, Suarez and Sturridge can all add much more to the game than just goals. Girouds role is to feed off the mids (and occassionally hold up play). When he's not getting distribution or lacks confidence in front of goal its a big issue. i think thats where Arsenal are at the moment

Here's the problem I have with people comparing Giroud to those three. It's because those three have more pace and are much more fleet footed, Giroud relies more on his strength when he's on ball. It's wrong to put him in the same group as Suarez or Aguero because he isn't the same type of player they are and people are practically demanding him to be. It's like he has to play like those two or he isn't good enough regardless of how much he brings to the team.

so its wrong to compare him to other strikers? seriously? strikers are compared by the goal scoring. end of story.
would you rather compare him to Jozy Altidore or Andy Carrol?

so what does he bring to Arsenal right now if its not goals? Thats the crux of it... he excels at off ball movement and letting mids feed him in advance places to score goals (he may be the best in the PL at this). But... hes not finishing those chances. you can say he gobbles up space and links up the mids.. but they arent scoring either.

Hes hit a bad run Gate. it happens. He was very good at the start of the season, as was Ozil and Ramsey. But the book is out on how to defend Arsenal's midfield and limit Giroud. They will need to adjust quickly or their season will be lost.

I never said it's wrong to compare them, I just said i have a problem with it because he's not like them.

so basically its just wrong to say anything that may be unfavorable in regards to an Arsenal player? OK, Giroud is better than Altidore and Carrol and Crouch (but not RvP, Lukaku, Dzeko, help, i cant think of anymore players that arent "like" Giroud)

whatever...

Wilshere out 6 weeks. tough for him. I do like him as a player

Looks like Jordan Henderson just stamped his passport to Brazil. Arsenal should sell him to AC Monaco, at least he'd make a boatload of money.

96% pass rate, 2 shots, 2 key passes, 100% cross accuracy, 100% long ball accuracy, 100% through ball accuracy.

Henderson was already going to Brazil... depending on Wilshere's recovery, however, it may open a door for someone like Lallana (or even Ross Barkley)

Im real interested to see the England set up. There was a decent write up not too long ago that made a case for using this World Cup to integrate the younger players and use the Euros in 2016 as a springboard for Russia '18 (including just using the likes of Henderson, Sterling, Wilsher, Ox-Cham, Lallana, Shaw, Barkley, Sturridge) and being done with the likes of Rooney, Lampard, Jones, Cleverly (the article actually said to keep Gerrard as he is the captain)

interesting approach. Hodgson doesnt have the guts for it. I'm sure England will line up in a 442 and run out of ideas when it matters

LOLWUT

effin christ Moyes... let the season play out. He's still got 5th place to fight for and a 2 goal deficit in the CL.

Im sure the United supporters are far more relieved Mr. Moyes is their manager. may it last for decades

ON TO WEMBLEY BOYS AND GIRLS! Arsenal have become the first side in nearly 30 years to beat both Merseyside clubs in the FA Cup with a big and much needed 4-1 win over Everton. Ozil scored his first goal since December(also vs Everton) and following an Arteta PK, Giroud scored a brace off the bench to seal it.

Funny thing I discovered today, the sensational and on-fire Daniel Sturridge has 21 goals in all competitions, while the man who "isn't good enough for Arsenal" Olivier Giroud has 18. So apparently to some fake fans, 3 goals is the difference between an amazing player and a player being "not good enough".

1st off, learn math, Sturridge, scored 2 in 2 League Cup games, 1 in 2 FA Cup games, and 18 in 20 EPL games, not sure how that equals 23 in 28 games. Oh and Giroud's played in 38, not 42.

Secondly using appearances to prove me to be stupid is foolish. Mostly cause Giroud has played a vast majority more cause Arsenal is playing in Europe and he hasn't missed significant time through injury like Sturridge. This brings up some "What if's" though. What if Sturridge hadn't missed games through injuries, how many goals would he have? What if Giroud could've finished some of the chances he missed? The argument I was making was that people seem to have an odd separation between what is considered "amazing" and "not good enough".

I added the international appearances just to show how prolific Sturridge is.

Sturridge scores at an alarmingly higher rate than any striker in Europe not named Messi or Suarez (or Benzema this year) based on appearances. You were foolish to than try and gleefully compare Girouds scoring record?

It was a nice win for you today. You should enjoy it instead of making yourself look silly.

I wasn't the one who did it, this guy did.

Shut up, Gatehawk.

Anyway, Chelsea were a wee bit fortunate today. That 4-0 scoreline doesn't tell the story here. A massive defensive blunder for the first goal, a pretty soft penalty and a never-should-have-been red card for Kaboul, then the game was basically over. Chelsea are favorites, IMO, but by no means locks for the title.

Arsenal won the right to lose to Man City in the FA cup. Gate, would you rather have a player who pops up every 4 or 5 games to score a brace, or a player with the consistency that Sturridge has? Giroud is nowhere near Sturridge. Nowhere near.

How's about you shut the hell up and let me have my fu**ing moment you lame ass moron. And like I said, I WASN'T THE ONE WHO POINTED THAT STURRIDGE-GIROUD THING! I ONLY RELAYED IT!

Arsenal's cup draws this season:

Fenerbache
Napoli
Dortmund
Marseille
Chelsea
Liverpool
Spurs
Everton
West Brom
Coventry
Bayern
City/Wigan

Somebody clearly doesn't like Arsenal in draws

You have no idea how high I jumped when they awarded the penalty and then scored it.
