He was a phenomenal backup for them. He had only two years on his deal when they traded for him, so they couldn't flip him for anything, but I'd say he was well worth the late seventh round pick they traded.
Understood...to clarify, I was inferring that he didn't become their starter or get much value from the trade.
I thought the poster was referncing Rodgers, who sat the pine for 3 years and then became one of the most productive QB's in his era. Could be wrong though.

If he doesn't show any signs of improvement after this season, cut him loose and try again with another mid/late pick. Projects are great, but they need to realize their potential at some point.

How does he even matter yet, really not eve worth a discussion, he was picked to learn how to be an NFL QB, Class is still in session. God I wish we could get going with the season, next we will talking about trading Darnold for draft picks next year.
Nah, Sam can't win the big one. Maybe we can go back to that discussion

Thread was started in February before the draft. It was worth the discussion then. Not sure who revived the thread, but I’m glad they did, because it’s a fascinating topic which has gone on 11 pages.

The Seahawks currently don’t need to do anything but develop Milroe right now. Milroe, still has the luxury of a rookie deal that is not killing the cap and in person on site training and tutoring from Seahawks Legend, Super Bowl Champion, Sam Darnold!
If and when Milroe hits the field and you can see cerebrally that Milroe understands checks and downs and reading defenses and can make the clutch throws, then you got something, but until then, it costs Seattle nothing to keep Milroe and can be very valuable, if Milroe develops into a complete QB.

Depends on whether the Seahawks think Milroe will progress as a player and whether Lock takes up another chance to start elsewhere. My guess is that Lock stays where he is and Milroe gets trained up and traded for picks.

As time goes on, it feels so much better not having that mindset and belief—I finally feel free. I’m close to earning my 1‑year chip. I encourage you all to finally accept what is and cut the third‑string QB cord, and get something for him now.

What I see him at this point while learning is a great QB to run a opposition offense during practice sessions for Mobile QB's he serves two functions that way. Learning as well as keeping our defense honest against QB's from teams like the Ravens, Bills, and Vikings if Murray plays.
You’re probably spot on.
If you are though….
Yikes, a 3rd round pick for that skill set and job description is pretty steep.

We should be all over Sorsby if he falls to a good spot in the supplemental draft. Already better than Lock or Milroe and good insurance if Darnold regresses.
Where's the "let him bake in the oven some more and see what happens" option? That's what my thinking on him is.

Over and over and over I'll say again. Its all about value, plain and simple. People can fan however they want, I get it. But in the end my opinion is DON'T MARRY YOURSELF EMOTIONALLY, or even statistically to any player. If there is an oblivious gain in value for the team, don't hesitate to pull the trigger on a trade. And I stress OBVIOUS GAIN. I have had many players I especially like having on the team, but in the final analyses, if the TEAM is better off trading them, or simply outright cutting them, well, do what you gotta do. In Milroes case, I wouldn't mind holding onto him, I still think theres untapped talent there, but in the end, I'm not in the meetings, or have inside knowledge of his progression through the system. So with him, or without him, I just want JS and MM to improve the team.
