I love the pick. Especially at 92.

Even if he never becomes a fully formed starting QB in the NFL, he offers a pretty compelling floor as a sub package weapon that teams have to account for. If that is his floor as a contributor, it is better than what many 3rd round picks end up becoming.

But I do believe in his upside and capabilities to develop as a passer and reading progressions. Top shelf character and work ethic, won the academic equivalent of the Heisman. There is a precedent for really good athletes with shoddy accuracy and room for improvement as passers (Hurts, Allen) to will/work themselves into becoming viable starting QBs in the league, if not more. Go back and check out the reports on Hurts during his first training camp - not pretty; but he worked himself into becoming a Super Bowl MVP. It isn't beyond the realm of possibility for Milroe to work himself into being a viable starting QB.

IF we didn’t have a current QB who is perfectly capable of running the show just fine for the next few years, I’d hate this pick.

However, this is the perfect spot for Milroe to sit back and be coached on his weaknesses (which there are many). He’s got the qualities that can’t be coached and the liabilities that can.

I see Jalen Hurts mentioned several times in this thread. Is Milroe our tush push QB, assuming it isn't banned?

Probably not the exact play, as he likely doesn't squat as much as Hurts, and the Seahawks Oline is a far cry from the Eagles oline; but, there are other ways to get him involved in short yardage and redzone.

My wife is an Eagles fan and I've watched Hurts grow over the past couple of years. I like him and think he has greater ability than many give him credit. IMO, Milroe has a higher ceiling and we have him in a better situation than philly did to support his growth.

That's not saying he will be better than Hurts or that he will succeed at all. Anyone who states definitevly a future prediction of a drafted player isn't worth the energy to read. But opinions on why someone may/may not succeed can provide insights.

With more digging since day 2, I like the aggressive move to take players with significant upside that fell for understandable, fixable reasons. Someone mentioned he was a locker room cancer...I haven't found anything to corroborate that position and sounds like he was a model player. I do question overall coaching at bama last year. He shined under Saban the year prior.

I've been clamoring for years for them to take a real shot on a qb, and they finally did, so I'm the last person who's going to say anything negative about the pick. We had a plethora of picks, and used one intelligently because we could afford to. Almost no downside, and tremendous potential upside. What's not to like? I don't understand the negative reactions for taking a shot. Who else in the 3rd would also not be a work in progress? Relax, let it all play out and enjoy the spectacle. If he busts, so be it, try again and move on. But if he develops into a star qb, then my hat's off to JS for recognizing qb talent when he sees it. Time will tell, and it's really great to finally have something to be excited about going into the season.

Milroe as a QB = Justin Fields at best, Anthony Richardson at worst. Neither is ideal.

Milroe as a Gadget Guy = Forget About It. Nothing about him says Tayson Hill, especially since he does not want that role.

Milroe is a WASTED 3RD ROUND PICK. Not only does he have limited upside in terms of ever seeing the playing firld, we have squandered an opportunity to fill other needs with some quality talent at other positions still available in the 3rd round.
this is such a short sighted take..... and ridiculous.

You often hear Lamar Jackson because of the running and the Baltimore/Macdonald connection, but many feel that the best actual "QB" comp is actually Jalen Hurts.
Jalen Hurts ran a 4.6. He's pulling away from LBs.

Jalen Milroe and Lamar run 4.3. They're pulling away from DBs.

Only Vick has recorded a faster QB 40 time.

He’s a freak with a lot of tools at his disposal. Once I started watching his tape, I was surprised to see that he doesn’t have a slow release as I read on a few sites (profile wise).

I’m trying to not get too excited here but, I’m looking at the value…where he was picked..Double Tribble nailed it imo.

Milroe isn’t Jayden Daniels ready but, he’s in the perfect situation to sit…refine his short and medium passing game a bit.

I will not be shocked when he gets the QB1 slot.

I don’t want to see his athleticism be wasted on the bench, and at the same time, I don’t want him taking snaps away from Darnold if that messes with his rhythm.

People may not like the gadget label, but that’s a fair assessment for this season. That is unless Darnold gets injured or completely sucks, then coach Big Mac may need to find a spark on offense.

Time will tell. We’re all rooting for the kid to help the team win, just not sure in what capacity this season.

A thought occured to me, Milroe is sorta the perfect prospect to take a risk on, and Seattle was in the perfect position to do it. Having Darnold allows a raw QB like Milroe to sit & develop for 2 years, but also, Milroe's athleticism allows him to be that gadget player, which would satisfy all the fans who don't like having to wait 2 years to see him take meaningful snaps. And if Milroe is the real deal, we got our next face of the franchise, who'll get more Seahawks fans in the stands. Now, in a perfect world, Seahawks fans would flood Lumen stadium regardless of who the QB is, but we don't live in that world.

I’m not sure how man of you have seen this play from the 2023 season, but it was incredible. I was at that game in Auburn, and it was glorious! Isaish Bond who caught the pass, transferred to Texas, and wasn’t drafted. He would have gone down in Alabama history and lived off that play for decades. Enjoy!

I was just about to post that play.. That was incredible! 8 in coverage plus a spy if he tried to rollout and he threw a perfect pass where only Bond could catch it! He’s got a great mentality and I hope he develops into our QBOTF! If he doesn’t, it was a late 3rd, I love the risk/reward

His release isn't slow but processing has to speed up but that is true for all rookies making the jump to the NFL level.
