I have no issue with bringing in kickers to compete but I don’t understand why people think that anyone who can kick 70 yards on a YouTube video can be an all star kicker in the nfl. It’s a lot harder than just kicking the distance.

I don't really feel like the difference in savings between Myers contract and a UDFA is going to be what allows us to sign some important piece of the puzzle to where I'd be willing to risk Jason's rather stable production, for like $2M in cap space?

Bring someone in to compete in training camp, yeah. But I don't think anyone should feel any real urgency to release Myers unless they actually have someone that they like better.
I think the savings would be 3M pre June 1st, 4.9M post June 1st.
Even if it was just "2M", it all sounds like offensive line $ to me.

I've been pretty critical of Myers at times and I've probably made more comments complaining about this team's absolute refusal to bring in ANY competition for him (we'd be by far the worst team in the league if they deferred to me on even a quarter of team decisions, but damn if I wasn't beating the drum hard for Cameron Dicker a few years ago) than every other regular poster on here combined, but Myers has been absolute nails the past few years. I've hit a point where I'm done questioning him. I'm certainly not cutting him until he gets beat by someone.
He missed an extra point against the Rams that would have won us the division this season.

Wasn't that in the first half? We don't know it would have won the game, let alone the division. Still would have needed to beat the Rams a second time in week 18 with them actually caring.

Jason Myers has a bigger cap hit ($6,825,000) than Charles Cross ($6,803,881).
Michael Dickson ($4,250,000) has a bigger cap hit than Smith-Njigba ($3,931,993).

The game was tied at the end of regulation. That missed extra point sent the game into overtime where we lost.

You think the Rams still punt from their own 49 on 4th and 2 down by one with 30 seconds to go? You must have a VERY low opinion of McVay.

Pretty ignorant to think a game goes the exact same way because of one missed point in the first half.

I was including the cost of the K we have to sign to replace him.

$2M isn't getting us any FA OL we want them to sign. (Neither is 3).

I mean... yeah. Cross and JSN are on rookie deals. They are both going to vastly exceed those numbers soon.

We need a kicker like Efren Herrera. He could pass,he could block,he could catch.and hd actually was a pretty decent kicker Nailed a couple over 50+. Wish we had something like him today. Yes I was old enough to remember listening to these plays on the radio as a kid in Hawaii thinking every time hear a field goal attempt? I would think will they pass it?kick it?run it? Those were the days. For you young in's on the
.Net here you go and enjoy 🤙🏼

Last year, I advocated to keep him for 2 reasons: One, his cap hit if cut was $9m, and two, he has a really weird history of alternating good and bad years. He's usually good in even years and bad in odd years. He now would only cost $1.8m if cut after June 1st, and we're coming into his traditional down year.
I'm trying to figure out whether this is satire or not.

If Star Trek movies could break this completely superfluous streak, then so can Myers.

Of course, maybe that's a bad example, since once Trek movies broke the streak, they all broke bad.

I know we made three game losing plays against the Rams. One big one and one gigantic one from Geno. His miss seems less fatal than those two. If his miss in this years first rams game didn’t matter. What about his miss at the end of last years rams game? What about the miss against the vikings? He’s expensive and soo is Dickens. Lots of punters are better than Dickens now.

Thanks for posting that Hawaii.
Glory days.
7/11 onside kicks in 2 years.
Howard Cosell narration hilarious.
Efren Herrera was a stud and never got enough credit for what he did on the field. One of a kind.
