id trade him in a second but sadly he just wont get anything in return. if something happens to Sam we are screwed with Milroe or any other possible back up. i dont see any future in him. and you could draft the equivalent in any other draft in the future where you have an extra pick or two

Needed an Option that is more in the middle. Not just Yes or Absolutely Not. I liked the Milroe pick. His poor outings are a very very very small sample size and when he is in it is a red flag to the other team to watch for him. Just depends the long term plan at the QB1 QB2 and QB3 positions.

I said you're a troll. Not one of those little things from the 90's that seem to look similar to a lot of "women" these days. The kind that lives under a dark and damp bridge drooling feasting on small children.
this encouraged me to vote for Steve is a troll.

I put “not really” but you’re right I should’ve gave another option. Sorry guys

I thought we drafted Milroe to keep the opposing defense on their toes, enabling Darnold to be more effective;i.e-I thought he would see a decent amount of playing time. We haven't used him at all, so I can't guess what our plans are for him.

I voted "not really"...but not to sweeten the deal. I think we hang on to Milroe b/c there's no legit reason to do something different at this time.

IMO, it's kinda simple.
1. We (as fans) don't yet know what he can or cannot do.
2. He's certainly athletically gifted. This coaching staff is excptional at maximizing talent. I prefer to see what they can do.
3. At this point, I'm not sure they get a 6th in return. Not worth it IMO.

Even if you like Sam and want him to retire here, you still need a viable backup. Lock is probably one of the better ones in the league at this point, but that makes him a target for other teams.

For a third, yes. Especially this year where we're short on picks. I don't see a third as realistic however. If MMac and JS see a lot of upside, great: hang onto him a while. I, personally, feel like a 5th would be an acceptable return during (or before) the draft. A 5th has a reasonable chance returning a special teams player that develops into more: someone that plays this season. Less so later in the draft. So if we're trading to get a developmental player, keep Milroe. ... that's how I come up with 5th: potential immediate return.

All of this makes sense except they have let Lock have all the garbage time - I really expected to see Milroe play a little in such situations. Given how fast and athletic he is, would it be weird to see him tried at receiver?

This is a fun thread, Steve. Good on ya for posting it, and in trolling poll as well.

I wonder if Milroe is more valuable to us as a developmental guy than he would be to other teams unaware of his progress (if he's made any, again, something only our staff would really know).

Because of that, it's unlikely we'll be offered an amount tempting enough to take. But I'd bet if some team offered a high second? It's a done deal, and a low 2nd/high 3rd for 2026 draft would at least have to be entertained.

This is a legitimate question, especially if Milroe continues to take up a roster spot. It doesn't make sense to have three roster spots for quarterbacks.

Has Milroe developed to the point where the team can cut Drew Lock? Or is he decisively still worse than Lock? The coaches know the answer to these questions, and they will move accordingly.

But even if I'm trading Milroe, I'm waiting until he has some good games in preseason action (not hard to do) that convinces someone to overpay for him.

You know, I just now decided to look it up and didn’t realize that we have Lock locked up next year too. For some reason I thought he was on a one year deal.

Someone should make a poll on if we should trade Lock lol. I’d rather keep Lock over Milroe though….

Lmao a THIRD for Milroe? If we flat-out cut him, he probably wouldn't even get claimed.

I know fans always overvalue their players, but a third rounder? That's hysterical.
This is the first time you've ever mentioned Milroe.
/sarcasm/

Then again, you also said Murphy was a bust. And that a QB who had 7 TD's and 10 INT is a great QB.

Well, the thread is about Milroe. I didn't bring him up out of nowhere.

One of those two players is a Pro Bowler. One of them isn't.
