A lot of fans WAY overvalue mid round draft picks, imo. I'm more than happy to trade a 4th and a 5th for a guy that is statistically a top 20-25 WR in the league right now.
This is where I'm at. I loved the Jones trade because to me a 4th isn't as valuable as we seem to think it is.
Worked out awesome. Jones became a valuable starter.

Very simply the problem I have with this trade is it reminds me of the Jamal Adams trade. You do not trade for a player who is going to be an upcoming free agent without renegotiating a contract PRIOR to the trade. Once the season is over, his agent knows that Seattle had given up a fourth and fifth round pick for him and will demand a higher price tag from Seattle, knowing they would not want to have egg on their face to let him walk. I negotiate for a living and would never take the approach that Schneider takes on these trades.
Except they didn’t pay the big price to worry about that

Well then we all know who not to go to for any advice on negotiations

This is nothing like the Adams trade. Hawks gave up a sh** ton for him.
It’s very much like the Adams trade based on the scenario of acquiring a player who is in the last year of their contract without negotiating the next contract. This gives the players agent a ton of leverage to ask for way more money than they could normally knowing that Seattle will not want to have spent a fourth and fifth round pick on a player that could go to any other team. Seattle very much so has to do whatever they can to retain this player so as to not look bad. Again, I negotiate for a living and negotiate these types of scenarios all the time, although not with professional athletes, lol.

A fourth and fifth round pick are probably equivalent to around a late three. This is not like a seventh round pick. Third round picks are pretty valuable on draft day.

A top 1st round pick is the same as likely a bottom of the round 4th and 5th pick?

So dumb comparison

Don't bother. The blowback on this page is just so entertaining.
Blowback, over getting a very good WR2 who has his best season under Kubiak. Only on .Net will you find this level of crazy.

The dudes that think they are professional scouts popped right outta the woodwork as soon as this was announced to try and earn internet brownie points for their trash 💩 takes.

This is a great deal for Seattle provided they lock him up with a deal. That’s the part I’m waiting to hear about.

Right and as has been pointed out it is also much closer to the Jones trade. Which was well worth it.
A 4th and 5th is not 2 firsts and a starting player. They are not equal.

Still not the same as the Adam’s trade. The pice you pay make a big difference

Are you thick?

It's not that they think they are scouts. It's a couple of the posters here that really dislike JS. It's a chance to fresk out about something since everything he has done this year has been pure gold.

I did read what you wrote. And it's a ridiculous take. But do you.
I'm here for it. The doom and gloom crowd gives me endless joy.
Then, if you read it, you’ll know that Shaheeds agent will be salivating come free agency with the knowledge that Seattle just gave up a fourth and fifth round pick for your player and will most likely do whatever they can so he doesn’t walk. If you renegotiate prior to the trade, you don’t have to deal with that and risk either the player leaving or the agent holding a fourth and fifth round pick potential loss over your head during negotiations.

Side question: Are those the only 4th and 5th we have next year? Doesn't change my opinion much because I like the trade even though I wasn't that sold on another WR, but he's a good one that can help us win games.

Again, it’s not about the price they paid. It’s how they negotiated this trade that I’m having an issue with.

On your last question, that’s what my wife thinks :)

Seattle isn't going to overpay so that John saves face

Cmon now

You could also just as easily argue he'll love winning and the culture and give us a fair deal to stay

You don't know so defaulting to doom and gloom is lame
