Just behind Justin Herbert, and ahead of Sam Darnold, Brock Purdy and CJ Stroud:
Exactly. A lot of people talk about moving on as if you could just go to Walmart and get a Joe Burrow or Lamar Jackson. It's hard enough to upgrade the O-line. Upgrading the QB is much harder. And then you still have to upgrade the O-line.And people want to replace the #12 best QB with someone likely in the 30’s-40’s and think that’s an upgrade. That’s insane.
Yeah, I thought Baker Mayfield #6 and Bo Nix #20 were two of the worst placements. The writer is ranking them strictly on 2024 performance. It's not a list of best QBs as they stand right now. I know the post mentions that, but the title makes it sound different.
Bo Nix at #20 is insanity btw. 3919 yards 30 TDs 12 INTs, 430 yards and 4 TDs rushing, led a Broncos team with an absurdly high dead cap hit from their last QB to the playoffs. 19 TDs over the last seven weeks of the regular season. No way there were 19 QBs who had a better season than that.
This isn’t the point though it’s not just as simple as one quarterback for another. You have to factor in his age, the historical precedence of signing guys in their mid 30’s to extensions (it’s abysmal y the way) and the money you spend on Geno as a sunk cost that could be used for other areas of need.Exactly. Yeah I would guess if you polled everyone it would be around there at best. Before last year which was Geno’s worst year nfl execs ranked him 20th in Sando’s poll. It’s possible they move him up because of how others played but we will see.You would think the highest would be 14/15.. considering we didn't make the playoffs because we couldn't score enough points. I say 14/15 because Russ didn't play good either the last part of the year

I agree, I'm not claiming Nix should be top 10, but 20 is borderline disrespectful for what he accomplished. He had a great season and definitely got better as the season progressed, but the dude was elevated a ton by Sean Peyton - and i say that as no slight to Nix at all. I would actually be thrilled if he was the dude in the wings when Geno moves on. But you could see the holes in his when he played defenses that could out-play the scheme SP drew up for him.
Again, thats no slight. He succeeded on his talent, no doubt, but was often riding with a lot of help from the training wheels SP bolted on for him. And it was the training wheels that got put him in position to get a lot of his great numbers.
Looking forward to seeing his second season. He's got game. But i wouldnt rank him much higher than he is based on just numbers.
This phenomena isn’t something I have seen or otherwise read here. I’ve heard this specific claim before, but I haven’t actually seen people claim Geno is almighty or that people should bow to his excellence. What's more entertaining is how bent out of shape people get if you don't bow to the almighty Geno Smith.
PFF has Nix graded out at #9:Bo Nix at #20 is insanity btw. 3919 yards 30 TDs 12 INTs, 430 yards and 4 TDs rushing, led a Broncos team with an absurdly high dead cap hit from their last QB to the playoffs. 19 TDs over the last seven weeks of the regular season.
