Last weekend, I was staying as part of a group in a Hotel from Friday to Monday. The Commanders/Eagles game was on a TV with no sound in the Bar. The TV was turned off and the Barman told me, that the lady that keeps on complaining asked. I told the lady that there were two ladies on my table who asked that I explain Football to them.

Of course I am watching like most Americans. It’s an institution and more importantly to me, it’s the last time I get to watch NFL football until September.

Eat, drink, and be merry!

Agreed. For me (when the Seahawks aren’t playing) it’s more than just the game, it’s an event. Something the whole family can enjoy. For some it’s the game, some the ads and others the halftime show, but everyone has a good time

Yep, spending time with fam and friends is a blast. Be it the Super Bowl or something else. Also, just a really good excuse to eat a ridiculous amount of food and consume adult beverages.

I am most definitely watching it, can’t wait in fact

Should be incredibly close as a contest

Super Bowl isn’t quite the magical event that it was when I discovered football aged 10 but it’s still pretty special to me

If you move to England, then you can watch all the games on Gamepass live, except for the two Sky games on Sunday, all for £160.

I've only watched 2 of the 12 playoff games so far this postseason. The Super Bowl will be game 3 for me.

I could not imagine watching a super bowl at a party where most don't even know what field goal is. I guess in a shitty match up like this the game is just background noise at a party. Could not imagine watching 48 and 49 with once a year fans...

Depends on who your family and friends are. I come from a big time sports family. Everyone is into it. And IF someone wasn't into football, they likely wouldn't come over anyway :ROFLMAO:

And in what world is this a shitty match up? These are 2 damn good teams going at it. The just played a 38-35 game in the SB 2 years ago.
You either watch or you don't. Meh. But a shitty match up? Not even close. This should be one hell of a game.
I just stick to my opinion that more people watch it even if they plan not to. It's the Super Bowl. If you don't, cool. Can always watch a replay later. The whole "boycotting" thing is silly. TO ME. That's all.

Agreed. I think it is a really good, and compelling matchup.

Rematch of a great game, Chiefs going for a 3peat against an Eagles team that has excellent players pretty much everywhere.

Nothing against the Eagles, as I absolutely love the way they have constructed their team and the style that they have committed to, but I am rooting for the 3peat.

I'm taking the over. I just can't bet straight up against Mahomes with the game on the line. He's one of the best we have ever seen when it comes time to finish. Some teams and players just flat out know how to win. No matter what it takes. He's ridiculous good.

These teams didn't make it to the Super Bowl using smoke and mirrors, that's for sure. But I do think that the Chiefs have gotten incredibly fortunate this season, not only from biased officiating, but there were a number of regular season games that they had no business winning. IMO they're overrated.

I don't really have a horse in this race, although there's still a very competitive Pick-um league championship at stake for me. I agree that it's kinda silly to protest by not watching. You'd have a larger effect on the league if you went into their website and wrote some negative comments.

The Super Bowl is a point in time that, at least for me and where I live, coincides with the change of season from winter to early spring, and I'm damn tired of this cold weather. The funny thing for us old fockers is that it used to coincide with the dead of winter.

Overrated, perhaps. But no team knows how to finish like them. Just take a look at how many one score games they have won in a row. That's not by accident. And, when a team is winning like that, you're gonna' get some lucky breaks.

Once or twice, sure. But winning is a talent, and they've proven that they know how to win/close going back years now. I don't know if it is fortune, as much as, like the Patriots used to be, know how to avoid beating themselves (post-Dee Ford offsides).

I think it is more about the presence of Andy, Spags and Toub that leads to what may seem like good fortune is actually preparation meeting discipline and opportunity.

I heard Bump put it perfectly. They just seem to almost make the right calls with the game on the line. Over and over and over again. Hating a team because of how successful they are doesn't change how good they are. Being hated often means you're damn good.
Winning stuff doesn't have to be pretty. You either get it done or you don't.

Man, I just can't get into the hate/fatigue element. Yes, Travis and Swift is over the top, but Mahomes is a cool dude, much more likeable than Brady during his epic dynasty. Reid is a big teddy bear who seems very down to earth and chill. Before we know it, the Chiefs dynasty will be in the rear view mirror and we can move on to the next dynasty we will hate, lol.

Exactly.

I didn't start out with any sort of feelings about the Chiefs, Warriors, Blackhawks and other modern dynasties; but as they've gone on their respective runs I came/have come to like them. I have an affinity for excellence; and at a time when sports features a lot of bad product, I really appreciate the standard of performance that they hold themselves to and maintain, and it is the ultimate sign of respect for their fans.

Was having that conversation with a coworker. Mahomes is a REALLY good dude who is now somehow branded as an a hole, cry baby.
I'm tired of KC, not gonna' lie. But that's also a respect thing because they are a phenomenal team, esp. with the game on the line.
Remember when the Cowboys won 3 SB's in 4 years? Hated even more than now, like REALLY hated. But they dominated on both sides of a ball during that time. Hating a team, again, is often BECAUSE they are so damn good. Jealousy? Hell yes. Absolutely. This KC team wins ugly, and who cares really? They get it done.
I just don't see Mahomes as some unlikeable dude. Kelce, different story. Comes off as a cocky af dude. But....he's also one of the best we have ever seen at TE, so he backs it up. Sherm was a total ass on the field. But he backed it up.

The 2024 Philadelphia Eagles evolved into the brand of complimentary football that I cherish. So, I'll record the game and then fast forward past all the propaganda and indoctrination at my chosen place and time.
