I got it all wrong, it wasn't a birthday party but Russell did surprise Pete. And Russ read about the party so he wasn't invited.
I don’t think this says he wasn’t invited though. It was just a surprise for Pete who loved it.

Why Geno Smith will be gone:
  1. He is not a John Schneider guy, when Wilson was traded, Schneider expected Lock to take over. Lock's someone just needs a better coach and more opportunities. Geno ruined that party with help from Pete.

Finally, Pete's gone, and Schneider immediately traded for Howell. But Geno again ruined that party.

Geno was always available for trade in the last two off-seasons, but no takers, so Schneider lowballed Geno with a team-friendly deal. You know what's a team-friendly deal? A deal does not reflect a player's market value.

  2. He is not a Macdonald guy either, our young genius hinted and hinted that it's not up to him to decide the future of Geno's contract. He basically kicked the ball back to Schneider, and tried to stay out of the Geno-Schneider relationship.

Geno's first year under Macdonald wasn't stellar, far from it, no reason for Macdonald to pledge his future on Geno.

  3. Geno wants out, he wants one thing more than anything else. A secured long term contract, and he knew that he won't get it from Schneider.

Lacking in love from the 12s, this is a minor factor, but everyone wants to be loved, and loved not just from Kesley45, Maelstrom787 and ole toffee.

You should write fiction novels for a living.

The fiction comment is spot on. JS literally brought Geno here and kept resigning him. It was a good find and a good move. It was JS that tried to trade Russ and Pete was the one who nixed it. Until a couple years later when a trade actually did happen.
You are making up fantasy fiction.

I received the same name-calling when I advocated to trade Russell Wilson in 2020 and 2021. This followed with advocating for Geno as our starter after Wilson was traded, Again in the last two years advocating to trade Lockett. I am used to it.

You writing a story you completely made up and getting called someone that should write fiction novels isn’t name calling. It’s calling out a fact.

Geno would have been cut, but with Pete as HC in vegas, Schneider might hold and wait for an offer from Pete.

Jordan Babineaux is so far removed from the organization that he may as well be just another talking head. He hasn't been a Seahawk since 2010, I doubt he has a single clue as to what is going on.

Right now there is no real reason to cut Geno. Even with his massive salary bump, Geno still isn't being paid what some of the top guys are. He also is going to be completely off of the books after next season. This contract allows the Seahawks a lot of flexibility. Unless somebody offers us a huge haul, he's going to be a Hawk. Just not many reasons to move on from yet.

Another thing to consider is the fact that Carroll has zero personal say on the Raiders. He doesn't have any executive powers like he had here.

He has a say, that GM is a Rookie and is being mentored to a degree, Mark Davis has known Pete his entire life, for it to work Pete needs his guys. The GM will work with Pete to get them with Marks approval, Pete is not going to be just a chess piece on the board. Raiders have always been run through ownership, GM's manage players, scout them, Davis decides who stays and goes.

Keeping Geno here another year will ensure we're picking in the middle to bottom half of the 1st again in '26, in a draft where we desperately need to draft our qbotf.

The common misconception is that a QBOTF has to be a 1st round pick. That is not always the case. Savvy drafting can yield a QBOTF in later rounds. There are mounds of evidence throughout NFL history to prove that is true.

If you are good at your job you don't need top 5 capital as stated, also the benefit is less pressure on the player, less pressure on the team to get him on the field before he is ready, cheaper initial contract and probably second as well. Yes shorter rookie window but you can focus on bigger areas where hitting is a much higher probability, Look we have made it to a Superbowl 3 times without a 1st round pick at QB, how many have the Jets, Browns, Lions used? Jets 1969 last sniffed a Super Bowl with Namath. Wilson a 3rd and Hass a 6th I believe, hell Brady was a 6th also. Montana a 3rd, just a few Super Bowls between those guys.

I think the talent evaluations for quarterbacks has changed drastically over the past 20-25 years also. Results are much fewer late round successful QBs these days. Shoot 25 years ago if you were not a 6’2” or over pocket qb you’d be lucky to even get drafted. Yes I know Drew Brees and Michael Vick are exceptions but can’t think of many others back then. That might be why most successful qb’s these days are based on overall talent rather than measurables, so all the good ones go on day 1 or 2 of the draft
