Good. Guy clearly wants to coach. Nothing but the best for Pete and I hope he kicks ass if he gets the job because the Bears deserve it after years of being doo doo.

The Bears could do a lot worse than Peter Clay Carroll. The Bears HAVE done a lot worse. If I were Bears ownership, I would strongly consider it. My only hesitation would be with him surrounding himself again with incompetent yes men for his assistants. I would want to know who he has in mind for OC and DC.

I can't see handing your 2nd year QB to a guy in his mid 70's because you want a guy to work with him for the long haul and build a marriage there. Just doesn't make sense. But I also think Pete isn't a defensive guru anymore but he is a QB guru in a weird way. He creates an environment where young quarterbacks feel comfortable to be themselves and play with confidence. SO he's the perfect fit and the worst possible fit at the same time. I think the only way to do it is to have Pete be the head coach for a couple of years and have an OC who is guaranteed to take the job when Pete retires that can create that marriage with Williams. That would be an ideal situation for the Bears.

Pete Carroll needs to hang it up, the game has passed the man by. Seattle flirted with having historically bad defenses his last few years. He hasn't built a top 10 defense since 2016, which is supposed to be his specialty. MacDonald came in here and immediately catapulted the defense from 30th to 14th while being 11th in points allowed.

Carroll has also shown very bad judgement when it comes to hiring people. On offense, Schottenheimer is the only one of our ex OC's that is still employed. On defense, only Quinn is employed right now as DC (or HC).

I'm very skeptical on Pete Carroll as a coach at this point. He's struggled to adopt to the modern NFL.

Pete is a great motivator and culture builder (I hate myself for writing that overused term). Just don't let him anywhere near game planning. And my gosh, the guy needs experienced, capable assistants if he wants to have any success at all. His judgment on that front has been absolutely horrid since his early years in Seattle.

My thoughts exactly.

Ben Johnson is the target. Bears should do whatever it takes.
No necessary, we do know that Ben is very good as an OC, and as someone who can handle QB development. To be a HC, he have other, a lot of other ,responsibilities. Some OC can develop into good HC, ie Bill Walsh, Andy Reid. but more couldn't.

True, but Bears offense is going to be vastly improved, AND we are taking away the Lion’s great OC. I have no doubt he will get the offer.

I worry that he won’t accept being saddled with Poles as a lame duck GM.
