I have a really hard time believing this and how would anyone know? Is the GM telling people he wants Pete? Doesn’t seem likely as last cycle Pete was looking to coach and no one interviewed him.

I’d love to see it but also sort of hope it doesn’t happen and Pete retires
Just think about it..
He could get Me3 to be his QB!

The Jets really do need to get their stuff together, though. The New York franchises have been hopeless for so long. At least the Giants have an incredible four Super Bowls spanning two eras, though.

Is Pete interested in losing? He isn’t winning anytime soon with the jets.

Pete Carroll wouldn't do jack with the Jets ownership. That franchise is doomed until the ownership decides to sell. Part of what allowed Pete to be Pete is the long leash and hands off approach of Paul Allen. He also had complete say over the roster and a GM under him that he personally hired.

With a shorter leash and a defensive philosophy that is falling behind times, I don't see him making any waves on a Jets team.

How poorly the Jets organization is ran, I could totally believe this rumor to have some truth to it...

Pete wouldn’t take any gig unless he’s given roster control. He learned after the Patriots traded Curtis Martin away despite his pleas.

The Jets are the east coast version of the Dallas cowboys - neither team will win anything until an ownership change - or in Dallas a jerry jones departure of any means.

They should force the jets to sell, and move them someplace with an ownership who cares. The jets are basically the mariners of the nfl.

This is too bad that Portland Oregon is too close to Seattle, and not enough population to support a NFL franchise.

Not too close, you have the Rams and Chargers in the same complex as well as Giants and Jets, also the population of Portland isn't that much less then Seattle. There has been talk of next expansion the Portland Area being one on the list several times as well as MLB. Also think about the Ravens and Washington Condoms, not far apart, denser population for sure per square mile for sure. It's Media Market that hurts Portland much like Seattle, we are not considered by most highly ranked, but in reality we are like 12 or 13.

It will be a serious coming of age for PDX to have her own NFL franchise, I suppose one could include Salem and Eugene into the PDX market.

PC knows what he is walking into if he does take the Jets job. The problem is that what is the time table the Jets want for a turn around and is PC willing to go into a rebuild franchise or is he going to be asked to win year 1?

At PC age I can't see him being on board with a full on rebuild. So if the Jets hire PC that means they feel their roster is fine and that they need a HC to guide them better.

Portland is like 19th largest metro. Just not much else out in Washington and Oregon except Seattle and Portland.

The era of the young gun coach is dwindling. Put Pete on the Bears or Jets and he could get those teams to the playoffs.
